Best Tour Ever

Li was by far the best tour guide I've ever had. Our food tour ended up being a private one, which made our experience that much more special. We were able to ask questions and connect on a more personal level. That being said, since we didn't have anyone else to share the food with, we were super full by the end of the night! Definitely worth the money. We got to try so many dishes and learn a lot about their history, too. Most importantly, Li was very accommodating with our vegetarian diet, and I never felt like we missed out on anything. He even recommended some vegetarian restaurants afterward in a follow-up email. Talk about going above and beyond! This is a tour we'll never forget.

Response from the operator: Hi Laurentiu, thank you for the incredible review! We’re so happy Li helped make your tour such a memorable experience. It’s great to hear you felt well taken care of as vegetarians and experienced the full range of flavors. Thanks again for joining us!

BEST FOOD TOUR

We had the best experience with Yanni Liang! Our friends had done this same tour a year ago and highly recommended it to us! We moved our itinerary around to go and it did not disappoint! Yanni took my wife and I to so many great spots, was so informative and knowledgeable about the food items and historical perspective of their region and origin. She was also so easy to get along with and a generous host. We also really appreciated the summary of the tour we received via email the next day as we will probably revisited some of the places in the tour! Thanks again Yanni, all the best!

Response from the operator: Hi Matthew, thank you for the amazing review! We’re honored your friends recommended the tour and even happier to hear it lived up to expectations. Hope you get the chance to revisit a few favorite spots during the rest of your trip!

It's worth it.

We were very lucky to have Janne as our host. She made the experience incredibly relaxed, and explained the different foods and provinces they were from. It was definitely worth it, and we enjoyed connecting with her. For us, we preferred having a small group as it was more intimate and relaxed. Her insight into Chinese culture and the connection to cuisine was fascinating and interesting. She also had a great sense of humour. The tour itself is adventurous without being crazy. It is a great balance. Thank you so much!

Response from the operator: Hi there, thank you for the thoughtful review! We’re so glad you connected with Janne and enjoyed the relaxed feel of the group. It’s great to hear the tour struck the right balance for you. Thanks again for joining us!

Great food experience. Amazing tour guide.

I had a great experience trying delicious local dishes and drinks from different provinces of China. I learned a lot about each province by getting to know about the context of their local food. The whole tour went very smooth - we didn’t wait much for food in each restaurant we visited and didn’t have to walk a lot. Janne (our guide) made a brilliant job balancing the informative part of the tour with socialising. She made everyone feel included in the conversation. Janne was very insightful but also curious to get to know us which made it feel very personable. 5 out of 5, definitely recommend.

Response from the operator: Hi Pedro, thank you for the fantastic review! We’re so glad you appreciated the flow of the tour and all the flavors from across China. Janne will be happy to hear her mix of insights and personal connection made the evening so memorable. Hope to have you back again someday!

Amazing food tour experience

We had a fantastic time during our food tour. Our guide, Li, was amazing. He provided so much information about the dishes we were trying as well as their regions of origin. He also kept everyone involved by having a mini-game as part of the food tour. The food was absolutely delicious and Li did a great job throughout. Everyone had a wonderful time and raved about how much fun they had. I will definitely recommend this to folks visiting Shanghai in the future!

Response from the operator: Hi Brian, thank you for the fantastic review! We're so glad Li made the evening both fun and informative and that your group had such a good time. We'd love to welcome you again sometime!

Shanghai By Night: 3-Hour Private Evening Food Tour, incl Drinks: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.

How much does Shanghai By Night: 3-Hour Private Evening Food Tour, incl Drinks cost?

+

Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Shanghai By Night: 3-Hour Private Evening Food Tour, incl Drinks take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.

Is Shanghai By Night: 3-Hour Private Evening Food Tour, incl Drinks worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Shanghai By Night: 3-Hour Private Evening Food Tour, incl Drinks?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Shanghai By Night: 3-Hour Private Evening Food Tour, incl Drinks suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Shanghai By Night: 3-Hour Private Evening Food Tour, incl Drinks?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Shanghai By Night: 3-Hour Private Evening Food Tour, incl Drinks start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Shanghai?

+

On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Suzhou Private Day Trip from Shanghai with Bullet Train Option, 4-Hour Flexible Private Shanghai City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Shanghai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Shanghai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
