    Stay away from Tower.

Last minute cancellation. After getting a confirmation at 8:30am. I got a notification via Viator at 3:30pm that my tour was cancelled due to lack of participation. However a week prior I wanted to add two more people to this tour and it was not available. I can only conclude that they knew a week in advance that they would not be running this tour. I was offered a different tour via the notification on Viator. I asked for more information and got no response. I tried calling and left two messages before I finally got a call an hour later. At this point I had two options, take what they offered or nothing at all as it was too late to book an alternative. Turns out I was scheduled for two different tours. The morning tour took us to Muir Woods then left me in Sausalito where I was to wait on a different bus to pick us up for a winery tour. We were the only two people doing this and when the big bus arrived, the driver asked if we wanted to sit together, the bus was full and no one would move to accommodate us. He moved a cooler from a front row seat for us. Turns out that seat sat above an exhaust from the engine that blew extremely hot air on my legs. About 30 minutes later, when the bus was at a light, we asked for relief and he said there was nothing he could do. My nephew and I switched seats so he took the burning heat for next half hour to give me some relief. After the first stop, I told the driver I wouldn’t sit there again. Sitting elsewhere only forced someone else to take that spot, and we soon discovered the entire bus was uncomfortably hot, we didn’t have the burning exhaust directly on our legs but everyone on the bus complained of the heat. The driver said he was aware and sorry. I would caution anyone from taking a tour with Tower, as they clearly waited to the last minute to notify me of cancellation, forcing me to accept there offer or have nothing, then putting us on a bus that they knew was uncomfortable.

    Grady

Transportation vehicle was very nice, clean. The tour was long enough with ample time to enjoy each of the wineries and the Redwoods! Of course, what made the tour even better was the driver, Grady!!! So pleasant and knowledgeable.

Response from the operator: Hi, Silvia! Thank you so much for the fantastic review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the clean, comfortable vehicle and felt you had plenty of time to soak in the beauty of both the Redwoods and the wineries. A special shoutout to Grady—he really is wonderful, and we’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to him! He will be thrilled to know that his knowledge and great personality helped make your tour so memorable. We hope to welcome you back on another adventure soon! Best regards, Mihaela@BigBusToursTeam

A bit of a mix up, but they took good care of us.

We booked this combo tour, but not enough other people did, so they canceled it. Issues like this come up, but it’s how a company handles it that make the difference. They put us on two 1/2 day tours, one for the redwoods and one for wine country. It worked out well. We even got to have lunch in Sausalito! Driver/guides were fun. Good tours.

Response from the operator: Hi, Charles! Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for your understanding! While schedule changes are never ideal, we’re thrilled that our team was able to pivot quickly and arrange the two half-day tours for you. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed the redwoods, wine country, lunch in Sausalito, and our fun driver-guides! We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back again soon. Best regards, Mihaela@BigBusToursTeam

    Seeing the Redwoods was...

Seeing the Redwoods was great but we only had half a hour there instead of one and half hours as advertised. There was only 4 people on the tour. The driver was a good driver but gave very little commentary and we found her difficult to understand. We visited 2 wineries in the Sonoma valley. One was great the other not so good atmosphere.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed seeing the Redwoods and that you found the driver to be safe and professional. However, we're sorry to learn that the experience did not fully meet your expectations. We understand your disappointment regarding the amount of time spent at the Redwoods compared to what you were expecting, and we're sorry that the commentary during the tour was limited and sometimes difficult to understand. Love and friendship in Sonoma❤️

Slight whiplash from bus ride but our bus driver was amazing. 😜she was very knowledgeable and the tours were incredible.

Response from the operator: Sorry for any discomfort with the ride, but we are glad to hear that our driver and the tour were so enjoyable! We appreciate that you gave our Woods and Wine Tour a chance, as we like to think that Russian River Valley deserves more attention. Thank you for joining us and safe travels!

SF Combo: Coastal Redwoods plus Wine Country and Tastings Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.

How much does SF Combo: Coastal Redwoods plus Wine Country and Tastings Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $144 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does SF Combo: Coastal Redwoods plus Wine Country and Tastings Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.

Is SF Combo: Coastal Redwoods plus Wine Country and Tastings Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 34 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule SF Combo: Coastal Redwoods plus Wine Country and Tastings Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is SF Combo: Coastal Redwoods plus Wine Country and Tastings Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book SF Combo: Coastal Redwoods plus Wine Country and Tastings Tour?

    +

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does SF Combo: Coastal Redwoods plus Wine Country and Tastings Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in San Francisco?

    +

San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit San Francisco?

    +

September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in San Francisco?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
