A 6-star review for Iggy!

Iggy made our trip to Mongolia incredible! He was a wealth of local knowledge and international anecdotes. We went out to Semi-Gobi to meet a local family and onto Kharkhorum to tour the informative museum, moving monastery then we spent the night in a yurt. I highly recommend spending the night under the stars and even splurging on a yurt with a private bath. Due to a torrential rainstorm our Semi-Gobi stop was on the drive back and it was worth the wait! Walking on the dunes was otherworldly and the camels were sweet. If we find ourselves in Mongolia again I would take any other one of Iggy’s excursions. He made our visit unforgettable, if I could give him 6 stars I would!

Worth Every Penny

I highly recommend this trip, especially if you’re only visiting Mongolia for a short period of time. Our guide (Francesca) and driver (Bогоо) were incredibly friendly and helpful. We learned so much about Mongolia’s history and culture and had a lot of fun too.

Response from the operator: Thank you for kind comments. We wish you the best for your future travels! Hope to see you again in Mongolia ! Best regards,

Book it! Best guide and 2 day tour from Ulaanbaatar!

We were so lucky that we stumbled upon this tour and that Iggy was available on the days that we were in Mongolia. We're in Mongolia for just 5 days so we do not have enough time to go far out. This overnight tour is perfect - we get to see the beautiful landscapes of the country, visit the old capital, visit a traditional ger and family, visited semi-Gobi desert and stay in a modern ger overnight (in a beautiful resort and our ger has its own toilet and hot shower!). We went for a day tour in Terelj National Park the day after, and we still enjoyed the sceneries and experience of this tour more. What made this tour special is the guide, Iggy. He suggested that we pull over whenever we see amazing animals so we can appreciate the sights more. He is so knowledgeable about all things Mongolia that I felt like I have a talking wikipedia the whole time and answers all out questions. He even stopped in a shop before we go to our accommodation so we can buy a cake for my friend who's celebrating the birthday that day. We met another 2 ladies in the resort and they were not that happy with their guide cause the guide was not willing to stop or change the plan a bit. This is how much a guide can make or break your trip! I've saved Iggy's number for my next Mongolia trip, and have shared it to all my friends who asked about the trip. Do yourself a favour and book this!!

Response from the operator: Thank you for kind comments. We wish you the best for your future travels! Hope to see you again in Mongolia ! Best regards,

Great guide

I had 3 tour guides while in Mongolia and Iggy (Erden) was definitely the best. He speaks English fluently and went to Univeristy of Las Vegas. I booked the chinggis khan statue/turtle rock tour as well as the overnight semi gobi/karakorum tour. They were both great. For the overnight semi gobi/karakorum tour, my main concern was making sure my 70 year old mother was going to be comfortable and avoid injury. It was comfortable being guided by Iggy. Frequent restroom stops, detailed knowledgeable explanations especially all my questions about the nomads and Mongolian culture. I also appreciated how after I told him we had lunch 2 days in a row with nomads he chose a restaurant instead for lunch for us. The semi gobi was pretty much what was described - a small gobi closer to the city. We skipped the camel riding option because I didn’t want my mom to have any accidents. Then we visited a nomad family that was used to having visitors. It was nice seeing them collect cashmere from the goats and taking pics with the animals. The animals there were amazing. One of the options for accommodations was to stay with that family in their guest ger but I’m glad we didn’t because it didn’t look too comfortable. Then after that he drove us to karakorum which was awesome to see the ancient capital of the mongols. Iggy was great at explaining things. Then I was a bit nervous about the accommodations (because I thought it was going to look like one of the typical gers the nomads stayed in) but it was a really nice ger resort that was very comfortable with private bathroom and heating. As well as a really nice restaurant with nice food that was pre ordered for us by Iggy. It was the best meal I had in Mongolia. One of my favorite things at the resort was to borrow their traditional Mongolian costumes and walk around taking pictures. It was nice to spend a night there, then in the morning there was breakfast then Iggy came to get us and we headed back to UB. Good amount of bathroom breaks, then lunch was included on the way back, then got back to UB. Overall Iggy had the best explanations, timing, and quality - I felt comfortable and safe bringing my 70 year old mom along to experience Mongolia. Would definitely recommend him to others !

Response from the operator: Thank you Randy for taking your time to write great reviews. It was unforgettable trips. Hope you two have many more wonderful adventures! Best wishes, Iggy

Semi-Gobi and Kharkhorum overnight private trip: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ulaanbaatar.

How much does Semi-Gobi and Kharkhorum overnight private trip cost?

+

Prices start at $300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ulaanbaatar usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Semi-Gobi and Kharkhorum overnight private trip take?

+

Plan for about 30 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ulaanbaatar is not rushed.

Is Semi-Gobi and Kharkhorum overnight private trip worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ulaanbaatar, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Semi-Gobi and Kharkhorum overnight private trip?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Semi-Gobi and Kharkhorum overnight private trip suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 30-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Semi-Gobi and Kharkhorum overnight private trip?

+

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ulaanbaatar can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ulaanbaatar and add a light layer if any part of the 30-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Semi-Gobi and Kharkhorum overnight private trip start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ulaanbaatar within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ulaanbaatar?

+

On Outty we rank every Ulaanbaatar experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Genghis Khan Statue+Terelj Park+CamelRide+Eagle, A day trip to Terelj National Park and Statue of Chinggis Khan, BEST 5* Chinggis Khaan Airport UBN Ulaanbaatar Transfer Taxi 24/7. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ulaanbaatar?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ulaanbaatar?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
