About this experience
3 Hour Self-Guided Kayaking Tour: Paddling a single sea kayak is a fun and unique way to explore Sydney's Middle Harbour. Choose your own adventure, paddle to some of Sydney's most pristine beaches, get a glimpse out the heads to the Pacific Ocean, or glide past the lush bushland of the Garigal National Park while looking for wildlife in their natural environment. The Single kayaks that we provide are very easy to paddle, smooth through the water and moderately stable. The deluxe single kayaks are made of lightweight materials like Kevlar, or carbon fiber. One fine day...
Perfect autumn day, great friends, quality kayaks and the super knowledeable guide Angela made it a fabulous day. Thanks Ange!
Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review. It sounds like you ticked all the boxes for a perfect day on Middle Harbour—beautiful autumn conditions, great friends and some time exploring Sydney's spectacular waterways by kayak. I'm especially pleased to hear that Angela helped make the experience so memorable. Her local knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for paddling are always appreciated by our guests, and I'll be sure to pass on your kind words to her. Thank you for choosing Sydney Harbour Kayaks. We look forward to welcoming you back for another great day on the water soon. Kind regards, Shannon O'Brien Sydney Harbour Kayaks

Excellent first time kayaking experience
Excellent 3 hr training and guidance. The guide was so helpful, full of useful tips and very supportive. I am 64 and this was my first kayak experience. I'll be back.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review. I'm especially pleased to hear that your first kayaking experience was such a positive one. Taking up a new activity at 64 is something to be proud of, and kayaking is one of the best lifetime sports available. It offers excellent cardiovascular fitness, core strength, balance and flexibility, all while being very low impact on the joints. One of the things I love most about kayaking is that age is rarely a barrier. We regularly see paddlers in their 60s, 70s and beyond enjoying time on the water, exploring beautiful places and staying active in a way that is both enjoyable and sustainable. It's fantastic that you found the training and guidance helpful, and that our instructor was able to provide the support and encouragement needed to build your confidence on the water. Thank you for choosing Sydney Harbour Kayaks and for giving kayaking a go. I hope this is just the beginning of many years of paddling adventures, and we look forward to welcoming you back onto Middle Harbour soon. Kind regards, Shannon O'Brien Sydney Harbour Kayaks

Awesome Kayak Lesson!
I had an amazing time during my 3-hour beginner kayaking lesson! It was my first time, and I initially found paddling a bit challenging, but Jacob explained the techniques and gave helpful tips. We also got to paddle around and enjoy the beautiful beach and bridge. By the end, I felt much more confident. Thanks! :)
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m so glad to hear that your beginner kayaking lesson was both fun and confidence-building. Jacob is fantastic at helping newcomers feel comfortable on the water, and it sounds like you had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful beach and bridge. We’d love to see you back for more paddling adventures anytime! Warm regards, The Sydney Harbour Kayaks Team

Amazing experience - a must do!
What an incredible morning with Kate. The sights were jaw dropping beautiful. We learned about the history of the harbour while paddling around. Kate even took photos for us and air dropped them at the end. We stopped on a beautiful beach for tea with an incredible selection of food. Kate and her husband really know kayaking and know the area. They even have their own brand of special made kayaks. You need to incorporate this excursion in your agenda!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your lovely review of your kayaking experience with Kate. I am so glad that it was a wonderful experience Best Regards Shannon Managing Director

Brilliant kayaks
The kayaks were really good quality! The staff were helpful and cheerful too. Loved cruising past the millionaire’s boats, under the bridge then connecting with nature in the bays.
Response from the operator: Hi Tania, thank you very much for your review of our ECO Tour, I am happy to read, that it was a lovely day for you and you enjoyed our equipment. We do hope to see you again.

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Self-Guided Sydney Middle Harbour Kayak 3 Hour Tour by Single Kayak: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.
How much does Self-Guided Sydney Middle Harbour Kayak 3 Hour Tour by Single Kayak cost?
+
Prices start at $85 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Self-Guided Sydney Middle Harbour Kayak 3 Hour Tour by Single Kayak take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.
Is Self-Guided Sydney Middle Harbour Kayak 3 Hour Tour by Single Kayak worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Self-Guided Sydney Middle Harbour Kayak 3 Hour Tour by Single Kayak?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Self-Guided Sydney Middle Harbour Kayak 3 Hour Tour by Single Kayak suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Self-Guided Sydney Middle Harbour Kayak 3 Hour Tour by Single Kayak?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Self-Guided Sydney Middle Harbour Kayak 3 Hour Tour by Single Kayak start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sydney?
+
On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sydney?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sydney?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
