Akumal Natura Rescue
Spend a day in contact with nature. Akumal is located about 35 (22 miles) south of Playa del Carmen and has been declared a sanctuary for protected species such as the green turtle and the loggerhead turtle. In the past, this protected area was only accessible by sea. Since marine habitat began to deteriorate due to the large number of trespassing; visitors and unregulated snorkeling activities in large groups operated by large tourism companies. Finally, since 2017 this area has been regulated by restricting the number of visitors to snorkeling. Maximum 6 people per guide, you must wear a life jacket at all times to maintain a horizontal position. Sea turtles must swim freely so keeping the minimum distance is essential for their healthy lives. Touching, holding or chasing them is prohibited,, if one is caught violating control restriction will be removed. Following such protection measures will allow the next generations to continue admiring these incredible protected marine species.
