    Polluted sea and run down

Everything along front run down and closed. Sea water and paddling pools polluted with effluent. Police telling toddlers not to paddle! No warning signs. Would not recommend.

    Modern city

The main city of the island of Tenerife, Santa Cruz contrasts with its modern city center compared to the historical side of La Laguna. In December, there were 10 good degrees more than in the old capital.

    Dirty and smelly capital

I, who speak very good Spanish, have been living here in the centre of Santa Cruz de Tenerife since 12 December 2024 and will stay here until 18 January 2025. The only positive thing for me is that with the numerous public “guaguas” (buses) various excursion destinations can be visited. But I regret my decision to stay in this city for 5 weeks. Despite the many cleaners, this town is extremely dirty and it still stinks hideously in “winter”. This will probably also be the reason why many shops and restaurants regularly use penetrating fragrance sprays. Adult men - and of course the numerous dogs and doggies - are not afraid to pee on the open road. What really outraged me was the fact that all the wastewater in this city flows unfiltered into the ocean, because wastewater treatment plants do not exist (yet!?). Not only the human faeces, but everything that somehow flows through a drain ends up in the sea. In the public toilets, there is often a notice asking you not to throw toilet paper or similar into the bowl! There are buckets available next to the toilet where the used toilet paper may be disposed of - accordingly, it also stinks in the toilets, because these buckets are rarely emptied. Also not recommended is to take a look at the kitchen - whether in an award-winning restaurant or in a tapas bar: your appetite will run out. Personal shopping at the Mercado de nuestra Señora de Africa market is certainly worthwhile. Too bad the capital of Tenerife is no longer worried.

You have to taste this ice cream

The merkado you shouldn't miss. Not only because of the nice images on the outside of the complex, the large number of providers, but certainly also because of what is said, the tastiest ice cream in Tenerife. A visit to Santa Cruz on this island is not complete without visiting the market halls.

    Left again after an hour!

It is ideal for cruisers who want to have solid ground under their feet after days at sea and can get back on the boat after 4 hours. We arrived one evening from Puerto de la Cruz for the opening of the Christmas market and left again after an hour. We couldn't find anything nice. The white tents made the Christmas market look like a UN refugee camp. All the tables in the restaurants were reserved and you couldn't get a table anywhere. Otherwise we couldn't find anything nice that would have made us want to stay.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife Undefeated City: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tenerife.

How much does Santa Cruz de Tenerife Undefeated City cost?

    +

Prices start at $11 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tenerife usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Santa Cruz de Tenerife Undefeated City take?

    +

Plan for about 2.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tenerife is not rushed.

Is Santa Cruz de Tenerife Undefeated City worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tenerife, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Santa Cruz de Tenerife Undefeated City?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Santa Cruz de Tenerife Undefeated City suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Santa Cruz de Tenerife Undefeated City?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tenerife can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tenerife and add a light layer if any part of the 2.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Santa Cruz de Tenerife Undefeated City start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tenerife within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tenerife?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tenerife experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale watching & listening Eco-Catamaran Tour with Snacks &Drinks, Group Surfing Lesson at Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, 3-hour Whale and Dolphin Watching and Listening Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tenerife?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tenerife?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
