About this experience
There are many salmon charters out there, we are different: 1) We don’t worry about burning fuel to find fish: Whether they’re schooled up in front of the hatchery in Ketchikan or swarming on the ocean waters of Dixon Entrance, our guides have the freedom to find the shiny fish 2) We run cutting-edge boats: Your entire fleet is made up of modern aluminum Raiders. Every vessel in the fleet is running multi-beam sonar with electric downriggers. We give your guides the tools they need to have the best possible shot at the fish 3) Salmon fishing in season offers the best action, best opportunity, and hardest fights of the fish we have in Ketchikan. The quiet serenity of a slow troll can be shattered the instant one of these fish hits, and suddenly it’s all hands on deck to land that fish. The excitement of an active troll bite is the sportfishing that made Ketchikan famous the world over. Book today to experience the rich tradition of Alaskan salmon fishing!

Catching Salmon
Captain Landon did a great job today. He put us on the salmon, boat limit on Pinks with a few Coho mixed in. Treated very well from time of arrival (6am) till end of day. Capt. Landon even had and helped us with the paperwork to ship our catch home. Highly recommend!!

Had a blast!!
This was an amazing experience while in Ketchikan! Would do it again! We more than caught our quota for the day. It felt like we reeled a fish in every 5 minutes. Captain David was a pleasure to fish and chat with. He made everything very easy for us as we didn’t know how to fish at all. We caught salmon, rock fish, and lingcod. We truly enjoyed the fishing part and the beauty of being out on the water and in the sun with mountains as our backdrop.

A busy time on the sea
The experience was wonderful, we caught alot of pink salmon and Landon was one busy guy bringing in all the fish. We really enjoyed this expedition.

Pick up was great. Met the captain and he was friendly but not forthcoming with what to expect. It was my first time salmon fishing and i wasn't familiar with the how to fish for salmon. When I hooked my 1st salmon, I set the hook hard and lost the fish. He said they have soft mouths and the pull off easily. It would have been nice to know on our boat ride out. I asked several questions and only got one-word answers. We did catch 7 salmon in 5 hours. I thought there would be more. On two occasions while trolling we found ourselves in a rather large oil slick. I'm not sure why we didn't get out of the oil slick immediately. But we kept trolling through it. Bad smell too. When we did catch a salmon, the captain was right on the spot to help and net the catch. Just a note: 5 hours on a boat with no head was a bit much to ask. pb

Salmon Fishing in the Salmon Capital of the World: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ketchikan.
How much does Salmon Fishing in the Salmon Capital of the World cost?
+
Prices start at $438 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ketchikan usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Salmon Fishing in the Salmon Capital of the World take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ketchikan is not rushed.
Is Salmon Fishing in the Salmon Capital of the World worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ketchikan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Salmon Fishing in the Salmon Capital of the World?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Salmon Fishing in the Salmon Capital of the World suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Salmon Fishing in the Salmon Capital of the World?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ketchikan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ketchikan and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Salmon Fishing in the Salmon Capital of the World start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ketchikan within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ketchikan?
+
Ketchikan runs short, cruise-timed excursions: Misty Fjords floatplane flights, Tongass rainforest zip lines, totem park tours, crab feasts and wildlife boats up the Behm Canal. On Outty we rank every Ketchikan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ketchikan Kayak Eco-Tour, Off the Beaten Path Ketchikan Photo Safari - 3 hr., Ketchikan Shore Excursion: Rainforest Canopy Ropes and Zipline Adventure Park. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ketchikan?
+
May to September, matching the Alaska cruise season. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ketchikan?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
