Fantastic Ghost tour of Salida Colorado
Steve gave a great ghost tour... He touched upon a lot of the history of Salida including it's grisly and ghostly past! Along the way he pointed out which buildings in town are the most haunted and gave us multiple stories about sightings and run-ins with ghosts! Great tour and we would recommend it!

They cancelled serval hours before the tour on a Saturday and left us stranded
We were very much looking forward to this tour, but the problems started the day of this night tour when they sent me a waiver to sign that said I was aware of the inherent dangers in this tour. I have taken over 50 ghost tours in my day and have NEVER had to sign a waiver for a walking tour around a town. I contacted them to ask what were these dangers that were apparently so obvious they didn’t need to state them. The “customer service” replied that it was standard in the industry and that he was not a lawyer and couldn’t comment. This went back and forth until I finally got him to describe the tour activities, I then signed the waiver. Several hours later the tour was canceled and we were left stranded in Salida, Colorado with nothing to do on a Saturday night when we had planned our one day in the area around this trip. When I requested an explanation for the cancellation, no one answered my unprofessional!
Response from the operator: 100% lie. No other way to put it. We have had over 35,000 guests and 99% 5-stars. We cancelled her reservation (and issued a 100% refund) 5 hours before tour time because she was so unpleasant and rude. This individual disliked that we require a waiver was very ugly to our staff, and is making false statements. UNTRUE review.

Great tour
Great tour. Steve was very knowledgeable and shared the stories well. Combined history with lore perfectly. Highly recommend it.
Response from the operator: Thank you! So happy you had fun.

Knowledgeable, a bit unwelcoming
Nice walk through Salida with historically based ghost stories. The guide is a good speaker, dressed the part, and as a local full of information. However, as a tourist and guest in Salida, the guides frequent side commentary on drunks, reckless tourists, and short remarks at folks that passed by our group, left us feeling unwelcome.
Response from the operator: Walking tours are not for everyone. We've served over 35,000 guests and have 99% 5-stars. Sounds like you'd be better off with a self-guided tour. We offer those also.

The murders in each...
The murders in each building. Really cool atmosphere. Excellent tour guide. Great weather. Really, really, really great.
Response from the operator: I wish I could accept credit for the weather, but I will say thanks for enjoying the tour!

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Salida Ghost Tour - Steve's Original Since 2018: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Buena Vista.
How much does Salida Ghost Tour - Steve's Original Since 2018 cost?
+
Prices start at $42 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Buena Vista usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Salida Ghost Tour - Steve's Original Since 2018 take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Buena Vista is not rushed.
Is Salida Ghost Tour - Steve's Original Since 2018 worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 122 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Buena Vista, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Salida Ghost Tour - Steve's Original Since 2018?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Salida Ghost Tour - Steve's Original Since 2018 suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Salida Ghost Tour - Steve's Original Since 2018?
+
Around 43 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Buena Vista can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Buena Vista and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Salida Ghost Tour - Steve's Original Since 2018 start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Buena Vista within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Buena Vista?
+
Buena Vista is Colorado's rafting hub: Browns Canyon National Monument trips from mild to class IV, plus hot springs, zip lines, ATV tours and fourteener access. On Outty we rank every Buena Vista experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Browns Canyon Rafting Adventure, Brown's Canyon Half Day, Browns Canyon National Monument Whitewater Rafting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Buena Vista?
+
May to August, with the biggest water in June. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Buena Vista?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
