What you get
About this experience
Hunt the northern lights from Rovaniemi with a local guide who chases clear skies instead of driving to a fixed viewpoint — backed by a 100% money-back guarantee if the aurora doesn't appear, plus free professional photos of you under the lights. Each afternoon we read the cloud cover and solar forecast, then decide where to drive that night. Some nights the aurora is 20 minutes away; some nights we drive three hours to find a gap in the clouds. That is why our tours run 5–8 hours, not a fixed three. Two ways to travel: Small Group (max 19) in a minibus with hotel pickup, or Group Bus Tour (max 47) by heated coach from central Rovaniemi. Your guide photographs you under the aurora with professional gear and sends you the images free — no watermark, no upsell. Dress warmly: winter clothing is not included (rental available in town). Hot drinks are served; no meal is included. Family-run, from Rovaniemi. Our guides drive these roads all year and know where the clear skies sit.

East or West Dennis is the best!
Went with Dennis and he was the best guide one could get. We’d gone with booklapland previously and not been able to experience the auroras clearly, so we tried again with these guys. Dennis was our guide and he left no stone unturned to make sure we had the most full filling experience. Reason I say this is - at around 10:30 PM we saw the auroras right outside of Rovaniemi. They were vivid, colourful and alive. However, there was still some light pollution given our proximity to the city. We all assumed the trip was over and that we were heading home. But Dennis had other plans. He continued to drive us up north to a less light polluted place and with some patience and luck at 2 AM we once again saw the auroras do their dance in all glory! It was absolutely magical. One of the best experiences of my life. As for Dennis - he didn’t need to drive us an extra 3h anywhere post the first aurora sightings, but he did. He’s dedicated and definitely looks up to his responsibility. Would recommend him every single time!

Amazing
We had an incredible experience with Dennis! He put in a lot of effort to make sure we could see the Northern Lights, and it truly paid off. We were lucky to witness the aurora dancing across the sky — such a magical and breathtaking view that we’ll remember forever. Dennis was an amazing guide: patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to giving us the best possible experience. Highly recommended! ✨💚🌌

Not at all what we expected
This review has nothing to do with what we saw but the experience of the trip itself. The good: the tour guide spoke excellent english, very friendly and patient. They picked us up on time. The bad: 9 hours trip with one bathroom break, the vehicle has zero suspension and people seated in the back felt all the bumps; driver kept going from side to side and made the ride very uncomfortable; The ugly: this was a road side experience with trucks and cars passing by at high speed every couple seconds which spoiled the experience. They didn’t take us to an open field or shielded area from light pollution from traffic. To note that weather was not favourable and they did their best to find the lights barely noticeable lights, if we weren’t told they are there we wouldn’t have known. Camera definitely picks up better than the naked eye. That being said, had we known what the experience will be we would have not wasted money, energy and time.

An Unforgettable Night Under the Lights! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had an absolutely incredible experience on the Northern Lights hunting tour on March 2nd! Even though I was part of a large group tour (7:00 PM), the entire evening felt well-organized and professional. Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about finding the best views for us. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and took the time to capture professional photos of the group under the lights, which is such a great bonus. Standing out there watching the aurora was a highlight of my trip. If you are looking for a reliable team to take you out into the wild to find the lights, I can’t recommend these guys enough! Thanks for the lifelong memories.

Why this scores 79
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Rovaniemi Northern Lights: Money-Back Guarantee & Free Photos: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rovaniemi.
How much does Rovaniemi Northern Lights: Money-Back Guarantee & Free Photos cost?
+
Prices start at $117 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rovaniemi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rovaniemi Northern Lights: Money-Back Guarantee & Free Photos take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rovaniemi is not rushed.
Is Rovaniemi Northern Lights: Money-Back Guarantee & Free Photos worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 56 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rovaniemi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rovaniemi Northern Lights: Money-Back Guarantee & Free Photos?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rovaniemi Northern Lights: Money-Back Guarantee & Free Photos suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Rovaniemi Northern Lights: Money-Back Guarantee & Free Photos?
+
Around 20 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rovaniemi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rovaniemi and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rovaniemi Northern Lights: Money-Back Guarantee & Free Photos start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rovaniemi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rovaniemi?
+
On Outty we rank every Rovaniemi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage, Rovaniemi: Korouoma Canyon & Frozen Waterfalls Tour with BBQ, Rovaniemi:%100 Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunt&Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rovaniemi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rovaniemi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
