Unbelievable

This was a unbelievable ride from the Airport to Downtown Shanghai. It took only 7 minutes at speeds of over 200 miles per hour. It was a very smooth ride with very comfortable seat. Our guide pick us up as we exited Customs, walked us to the Maglev and made sure we got to our hotel with No Problems. On the way back our guide repeated the same service and also made sure we had no Problems getting our boarding passes and to the Custom gate for the flight.

Maglev train ride in Shanghai

Great experience. You don't feel anything during the ride. Attendants are available. Not crowded. Just like any metro stations. You can watch the trainspeed at any time.

Speed was amazing

We did a round trip on the Maglev to experience the fastest train in the world. When we travelled on the train, the top speed was 416 km per hour. If you want to travel on the train when it does the maximum, check before your journey as many of the trips go at the 'slower' speed of 300 km per hour (our trip was 10am). Sit on the left hand side of the carriage to capture the moment the train passes in the other direction. The carriage was clean and tidy, the station easy to get around. I would not hesitate to use this as a very fast means of transport to the airport. Highly recommended for the tourist and the airport traveller.

This is the second time that we have...

This is the second time that we have booked this activity. If you want fast and smooth transfer from Pudong to your city hotel and then the reverse at the end of your Shanghai stay you should seriously consider this service. Tom, who was our guide last year and again this year has excellent local knowledge and makes sure that your travel is smooth and hassle-free. The transfer vehicle was very comfortable and clean and the driver obviously knew his stuff. Highly recommend.

I was worried taking the Meglev...

I was worried taking the Meglev train and transferring to the subway would be to difficult to do on my own. After arriving and riding the subway later on my trip, I found it very clean, safe, easy to navigate and very cheap. The 188 for round trip transfer did get you a personal guide to pick you up at airport arrivals, traveled with you on the train and then a private car to take you to your hotel. But considering I could have spent 12 on a round trip train ticket and another few dollars for the subway, I would not recommend this service unless you are a very inexperienced traveler or money is of no concern. I do have to say my guide Tom, was very friendly, helpful and informative so my rating has nothing to do with the service provided, rather the implied value for the additional cost over taking the train/subway on your own.

Round-trip Transfer by High-Speed Maglev Train: Shanghai Pudong International Airport: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.

How much does Round-trip Transfer by High-Speed Maglev Train: Shanghai Pudong International Airport cost?

+

Prices start at $87 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Round-trip Transfer by High-Speed Maglev Train: Shanghai Pudong International Airport take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.

Is Round-trip Transfer by High-Speed Maglev Train: Shanghai Pudong International Airport worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 36 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Round-trip Transfer by High-Speed Maglev Train: Shanghai Pudong International Airport?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Round-trip Transfer by High-Speed Maglev Train: Shanghai Pudong International Airport suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Round-trip Transfer by High-Speed Maglev Train: Shanghai Pudong International Airport?

+

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Round-trip Transfer by High-Speed Maglev Train: Shanghai Pudong International Airport start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Shanghai?

+

On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Suzhou Private Day Trip from Shanghai with Bullet Train Option, 4-Hour Flexible Private Shanghai City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Shanghai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Shanghai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
