    About this experience

Please note that Viator( whos reps have never done this activity) wrote the OVERVIEW description that calls this both a tour and scavenger hunt and says i'll be explaining the ecosystem on the river. Unfortunately these inaccuracies are not easy for a suppiler to change. This is a great activity for the right people and I dont wish to mislead anyone. I host and interact with my guests on Whats App. Its not a guided hiking tour. I am a scavenger hunt host and have hunts in both Taos and Santa Fe. This isnt really a scavenger hunt. Its much slower paced, creative and is more about connecting with the land. There are creative exercises. I do give you interesting background on the area but i am not a biologist who is qualified to explain the eco system of the river. if you play this solo, I am happy to host you but know that i cannot provide you with a group to play with. id say a degree of being comfortable alone on hiking trails is essential if you book solo.

Loved chatting with Arthur about art and life and seeing his work. We probably would not have found that gorgeous hike on our own.

Best Rio Grande excursion in Taos!!!

Tara’s personalized expedition for our family went well beyond our expectations! We were seeking to recharge and reconnect, and explore Taos nature in a unique way off the beaten path. Tara’s well thought out plan for us definitely did the trick! With her local connections, we were able to experience some beautiful private areas along the river owned by a wonderful artist couple who allowed us to explore on our own as long as we wanted. The hiking trails were also amazing and different from the norm. You can go a short distance or longer—whatever you’re up for. The mission was full of diverse activities that suit any personality, and you can choose as little or as much as you want. This experience was absolutely perfect and got our vacation off to a great start! Thank you, Tara!!!

Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words and recognition that this is a different type of hosting and experience but that it is great for the right people who dont require an in person guide. I think in your case it was more peaceful and bonding just to have your group decompress and enjoy the magic without a chattering guide dominating the conversation. Thank you again for being open to something new and different. and A and D just loved the chocolate.,

    Fun and Creative Excursion!

A very fun creative and physical activity. We spent 45 minutes to an hour visiting with Arthur Glenhill studio and explored the artwork on the grounds of the banks of the Rio Grande. We also viewed the artwork in his house, chatted with his lovely wife Diane and completed our creative missions assigned by Tara. We then headed off to our hike, it was a hike of moderate difficulty, 4 miles, nice views above the river, watch the cactus, and the temps. If it’s going to be hot, go earlier in the morning but know that that times are flexible. Great time!

Response from the operator: I am so happy to share this magical place I love with your fun and positive group.. thank you for trusting me with your adventure.

    Winding road to Happiness!

We really enjoyed being out in nature and seeing such a beautiful view from the top of the hills. Tip: If going in the summer go early in the morning so you don’t get too hot. -were a hat, lotion, bring water

    An afternoon like no other

My 11-year-old son and I had a wonderful, connective nature experience under Tara’s creative guidance. Off the beaten paths of Taos, and thanks to Tara’s thoughtful prompts, the two of us laughed, gained insights into each other, appreciated beauty, talked, created, shared silence, and made sweet memories that will last a lifetime. I’m so grateful for this unique experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for trusting me with your vacation time with my unusual remotely hosted adventure! It was really lovely to see your interaction. I wish I could have done it with my son when he was 11.

River Guru Rio Grande Mindfulness Adventure( remotely hosted): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Taos.

How much does River Guru Rio Grande Mindfulness Adventure( remotely hosted) cost?

    +

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Taos usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does River Guru Rio Grande Mindfulness Adventure( remotely hosted) take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Taos is not rushed.

Is River Guru Rio Grande Mindfulness Adventure( remotely hosted) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Taos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule River Guru Rio Grande Mindfulness Adventure( remotely hosted)?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is River Guru Rio Grande Mindfulness Adventure( remotely hosted) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book River Guru Rio Grande Mindfulness Adventure( remotely hosted)?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Taos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Taos and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does River Guru Rio Grande Mindfulness Adventure( remotely hosted) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Taos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Taos?

    +

Taos, NM packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Taos by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Taos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Far Flung Adventures Rio Grande Racecourse, Racecourse half day class 3 most popular in New Mexico, Far Flung Adventures Scenic Half-Day Float. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Taos?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Taos, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Taos?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
