Nepal Rafting Experience
We did this rafting trip recently and really enjoyed the experience. Overall a great day. It was made easy with the hotel pick up and drop off in Thamel. The location of the rafting is amazing, great scenery and the water is crystal clear. All of the guides & drivers spoke good English and were helpful and professional the whole day. There were some good rapids to navigate through and we were allowed to jump into the river at several points. Would definitely recommend this experience to anyone wanting to give rafting a go in Nepal.
Response from the operator: Hi Namaste from Kathmandu. Thank you so much for sharing your rafting adventure with us! We're thrilled you had such a great time on the river and that everything—from the pickup to the rapids—made for an unforgettable day. We’d be excited to welcome you back for more thrills and scenic experiences in Nepal! Thank you again.

Fantastic rafting day out
We had the best day rafting Bhotekoshi! The drive from Kathmandu is around 2.5 hours and the roads aren't great - but it is worth the travel and part of the adventure. Our trip was out of main tourist season so they filled the boat with staff to make sure we didn't miss out - it was such a thoughtful thing to do and we had a great time with everyone! The rafting wad good with some great rapid areas and the chance for white water swimming! Food is provided before and after - and is delicious! Brilliant experience - definitely recommend for both new and experienced rafters.
Response from the operator: Dear Adventurer, Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear you had an amazing day rafting on the Bhotekoshi. Your insights about the journey and our team's efforts to enhance your experience are greatly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you back for more adventures! Best Regards, The Shepherd Holidays Team

Terrible transportation, average short rafting.
The rafting was okay, but we were on the water for a very short time. Lunch was lovely. The transportation was HORRENDOUS. In the morning it took over 5 hours by a very overcrowded public bus to arrive, and the driver had no idea where to drop us off. In the afternoon we returned squeezed into a public van with no fresh air for over 4 hours. 9.5 hours of very uncomfortable, bumpy, crazy driving for less than an hour on the water was not what we paid for. I also felt that my patronage of your company was not at all valued.
Response from the operator: Namaste! We deeply appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with Shepherd Holidays on TripAdvisor. As you may be aware, Nepal is currently undergoing extensive road construction, impacting travel routes across the country. We had recommended opting for private transportation, offering the luxury and comfort of our designated vehicles for a personalized journey. However, we understand your decision to choose a more economical option by traveling via public bus. It's important to note that when opting for public or local transportation, particularly in a developing country like Nepal, the level of service and amenities may differ significantly from private arrangements. Consequently, our ability to manage and ensure a seamless travel experience is limited under such circumstances. Nevertheless, we sincerely hope for the chance to host you on another adventure with Shepherd Holidays. Our team remains dedicated to providing an enhanced and memorable journey on your next visit. Thank you once again for your feedback and for considering us for your travel experiences.

Terrific March River Rafting
Everything went very smoothly with Shepherd Holidays’ rafting experience. The transportation, arrival and personal belonging protection were all well accounted for. The rafting itself was great this time of year and the river hosts knew how to make it very enjoyable throughout! I hope to be back one day. 5/5

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Rafting in Nepal: Trishuli, Bhotekoshi & Other River Rafting: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.
How much does Rafting in Nepal: Trishuli, Bhotekoshi & Other River Rafting cost?
+
Prices start at $70 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rafting in Nepal: Trishuli, Bhotekoshi & Other River Rafting take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.
Is Rafting in Nepal: Trishuli, Bhotekoshi & Other River Rafting worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rafting in Nepal: Trishuli, Bhotekoshi & Other River Rafting?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rafting in Nepal: Trishuli, Bhotekoshi & Other River Rafting suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Rafting in Nepal: Trishuli, Bhotekoshi & Other River Rafting?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rafting in Nepal: Trishuli, Bhotekoshi & Other River Rafting start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?
+
On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Kathmandu Food and Drink Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kathmandu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
