Safety and Organization Needed

Overall, this was a decent excursion with potential! The scenery at Los Arcos and the visit to Playa Las Ánimas were very enjoyable. However, a few areas could use improvement, especially regarding organization and safety. To begin with, there was a communication issue about the start time. When I called to confirm, I was told the excursion began at 9:00 a.m. and that we needed to be at Puerto Mágico by 8:40 a.m. In reality, the boat didn’t depart until 10:00 a.m., leaving us waiting for nearly an hour in the heat. Once on board, there was also confusion as we approached the snorkeling site at Los Arcos. We were rushed to grab our gear and life jackets with little notice. The captain should have made an announcement at least 30 minutes beforehand so guests could prepare calmly and receive a proper safety and snorkeling orientation. I had specifically chosen this tour for a beginner snorkeling lesson, as promised over the phone, but that expectation was not met. Another safety concern was how guests were instructed to enter the water. Instead of lowering the ladder, we were told to jump directly from the boat into the ocean. This felt unsafe and uncomfortable — especially for beginners or anyone anxious in open water. In my case, I jumped into the ocean and immediately got water up my nose and returned to the catamaran. It would have been much better to allow guests to use a ladder for a controlled entry. Additionally, there were no proper children's life jackets available; my 10 year-old niece’s life jacket kept floating above her head, making swimming difficult and potentially unsafe. Lastly, the lunch provided at Las Ánimas Beach around 2:30 p.m. was quite minimal, so be prepared to pay extra if you want a full meal. On the return trip, the music played was almost entirely traditional Mexican songs, which was lively but made it difficult for non-locals to join in or dance comfortably. Instead of resting, the master of ceremonies continued talking and continued with his show for the 1.5 hours back to Puerto Magico. Some downtime would have been nice. In summary, this excursion has good potential — the locations are beautiful and the experience could be fantastic with better organization, clearer communication, and stronger attention to guest safety and comfort.

How much does Puerto Vallarta Quimixto Costa Sur Resort Catamaran Day cost?

+

How long does Puerto Vallarta Quimixto Costa Sur Resort Catamaran Day take?

Is Puerto Vallarta Quimixto Costa Sur Resort Catamaran Day worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Puerto Vallarta Quimixto Costa Sur Resort Catamaran Day?

Is Puerto Vallarta Quimixto Costa Sur Resort Catamaran Day suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Puerto Vallarta Quimixto Costa Sur Resort Catamaran Day?

+

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

+

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
