Get to know the real Mexico
What a wonderful day trip with our guide Hermes. He is very cultured, knows the city, its history, and current events. He makes you feel like you’re out with family. We visted Xochimilco, Frida Khalo museum and Coyoacan. Tried a little bit of everything and learned a lot. Highly recommended!

Phoning it in
I really hate to write a negative review and I told myself I’d just let it go but when we went to lunch and our guide Oscar scrolled Instagram the entire time I decided that was enough. This tour could not have been more boring. He was definitely phoning it in on all fronts. He seems like a lovely person but either it was a bad day or he needs to find a new line of work. I was so excited to see Coyoacan but honestly his lack of enthusiasm was contagious and my kids and I could not wait to get back to our hotel. Also he did not join us in the Frida Kahlo museum and all the other guides I saw were taking their guests through and giving them details. That would have made the entire experience more interesting. I work in a customer service profession and would never scroll my phone with clients. Even my 2 teen boys I was traveling with did not. This was an extremely expensive private tour that I decided to splurge on and regretted almost from the first minute Oscar met us at the car. It was a total bummer. On the plus side our driver was lovely, a safe driver with a clean car.
Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I truly appreciate your honesty, and I want to start by saying how sorry I am that your visit to Coyoacán did not meet your expectations. I completely understand how disappointing it can be to look forward to a special experience—especially a private tour—and feel that it fell short. After reviewing your comments carefully and speaking directly with our guide to understand what happened that day, it’s clear that there was a disconnect between expectations and the experience delivered. That said, your feedback regarding professionalism—particularly during lunch—and the overall level of engagement is something we take very seriously. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide at Excellentravel, regardless of circumstances. Regarding the Frida Kahlo Museum, I’d like to clarify that this tour does not include a guided visit inside the museum, as tickets and internal guiding are managed directly by the museum itself. However, I completely agree with you that this should have been explained more clearly at the moment, and that better communication could have helped improve your experience. On a positive note, I’m glad to hear that your driver provided a safe and pleasant service, and I truly appreciate you mentioning that. Your comments have already been shared internally, and we are using this experience as an opportunity to reinforce our service standards with our team to ensure situations like this are handled better in the future. Thank you again for your feedback—it genuinely helps us improve. If you would be open to it, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly to see how we might make this right.

5 ⭐ trip and guide
Excellent day trip to xochimilico canals. A relaxing boat ride along the canals as we visited early in the day. Oscar walked us through the district and explained clearly the history of the area. We had a quick coffee at a lovely local cafe before going to Frida kohle museum. We had pre bought tickets this was useful as it was very busy. Oscar took us for lunch at a local taco restaurant which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend Oscar his knowledge and spoken English was excellent

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan and the World of Frida Kahlo: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Private Tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan and the World of Frida Kahlo cost?
+
Prices start at $2300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan and the World of Frida Kahlo take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Private Tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan and the World of Frida Kahlo worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan and the World of Frida Kahlo?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan and the World of Frida Kahlo suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan and the World of Frida Kahlo?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan and the World of Frida Kahlo start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
