Great tour and guide
Great private tour. We went to Giverny and then to Honfleur instead of Rouen. Before our trip the tour guide had asked which city we preferred and we picked to visit Honfleur. We are glad we did. Our guide was very informative about the history of both Giverny, Monet and Honfleur but also of Bayeux as well.

Impressions of Monet’s Gardens
Having seen some of Monet’s paintings in museums, it was so meaningful to walk through gardens he had created as a muse for some of his most famous paintings. Our guide, Momon, gave us wonderful information on our way there about Monet’s life, painting, Giverny and the house and gardens. It added depth and meaning to our visit. Since our guide had purchased tickets ahead of time, we showed up at our appointed time and did not have to stand in line. It was a pretty Sunday in May and there were a lot of people, but everyone was respectful and we could walk through at our own pace. In the Japanese Garden, it was inspiring to see the water lilies and footbridge of so many of Monet’s paintings. Momon gave more information and stories as we went. Across the street, the garden connected to the house was a riot of joyful color, as though it were an impressionist painting. Our favorite part of the house was the view of the gardens from Monet’s upstairs bedroom window. We were a slower moving couple and Momon was very flexible with our time. For a slower pace, we went to the quaint harbor town of Honfleur instead of Rouen. We went to the medieval area where we enjoyed walking the cobblestone streets, viewing the harbor and architecture. Having seen many cathedrals, we found the Church of St. Catherine unique and interesting. Again, Momon’s information and stories about the town and the church made it so much more enjoyable. We would recommend this tour for a smaller group of people, but that’s our style.

Beautiful drive to Giverny and Rose was a wonderful guide through the countryside. Monet gardens and home was spectacular. The walk through Rouen was great too. Highly recommend it and recommend Rose as your guide.

How many days do you need in Bayeux?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
