    Excellent tour - fantastic guide

I am a travel agent from Canada and was referred to Romania on the Map for my first visit to Romania. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience in Romania with Daniel as our guide. We booked a two day private tour as a couple, starting on our first day with the main sights in Bucharest before heading to Transylvania for a visit to Peles Castle and the charming city of Braşov. On our second day, we visited the medieval town of Sighisoara, Bran Castle and Viscri. Daniel was so knowledgeable about everything Romanian, not only about its history, but also about its culture, food, nature and other little known facts. He was helpful in recommending restaurants and hotels, and made sure we tasted the unique foods of Romania. He planned our days efficiently, so that we had Peles Castle almost to ourselves with no wait, and only a 20 min line up to get into Bran Castle. Daniel is an exceptional guide who is engaging, easy going and so enjoyable to be with. If you are visiting Romania, don’t hesitate to book Daniel at Romania on the Map for your tour. I know I will be recommending him to all my clients.

Response from the operator: Dear Isla, Thank you so much for taking the time to write us such a nice review! I am very happy to read that all our services exceeded your expectations and that you took some nice memories from your visit in Transylvania. I look forward to welcoming you back to Romania and I will be thrilled to look after your clients here! Kind regards, Daniel

Authentic Transylvania with a superb guide

This tour excelled in all respects. Daniel is a very knowledgeable and likeable guide, with very safe driving in a comfortable vehicle. We were so pleased to discover more of the history of Transylvania, and astonished at the authenticity of the Saxon villages. Daniel was very flexible, so that if we wanted to adjust the schedule a little, he was fine with that. We would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the authentic Transylvania, rather than the legendary myths, as it is an amazing and quite unique place.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience on the TripAdvisor platform! You have both been some amazing guests! I wish you lots of health and same travels! I look forward to welcoming you back to Romania for some more authentic experiences at any time! Best regards, Daniel

    Transylvania tour

Daniel Dumitru was the best guide that we had during our entire time in Europe. We felt that he was very personable and lightened every situation. The price of the tour, was completely worth every penny. If you are planning a trip to Romania, plan on a privet tour with Daniel.

Response from the operator: Dear reverendmrblack, First I would like to thank you for choosing Romania On The Map as your tour partner and for sharing your positive experience on TripAdvisor/Viator community. I am happy to hear of your satisfaction and look forward to welcoming you back to Romania soon. Kind regards, Daniel

Superb 4 day tour of Bucharest, Transylvania and more with Daniel Dumitru

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with licensed guide Daniel Dumitru of Romania on the Map. He guided us in his comfortable car for 4 days touring in Bucharest, through the Saxon villages of Transylvania, to Sibiu, up the winding Transfagarasan Road in the Carpathian Mountains, followed by a return to Bucharest. My husband walks slowly with a cane and Daniel found places to visit that would allow him to see the important sights. We stayed at a comfortable country hotel and gasthouse in Transylvania and learned so much about the history of Romania and daily life from Daniel who speaks excellent English. Friends who visited Romania in Spring 2021 recommended Daniel's services to us and we were not disappointed. Highly recommend Daniel Dumitru as a guide who offers day trips and more throughout Romania.

Response from the operator: Dear Mrs Marjorie, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive feedback on TripAdvisor platform. It was my real pleasure to tailor your trip so that it fits your husband walking requirements, but yet to include Transylvania's most authentic places! I loved guiding your around the country and sharing with you a piece of the Romanian true hospitality. I whish you lots of health and I look forward to welcoming you back to Romania for other interesting sights. Kind regards, Daniel

Private tour: Medieval cities of Transylvania, 2 Days from Bucharest: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.

How much does Private tour: Medieval cities of Transylvania, 2 Days from Bucharest cost?

    +

Prices start at $219 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private tour: Medieval cities of Transylvania, 2 Days from Bucharest take?

    +

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.

Is Private tour: Medieval cities of Transylvania, 2 Days from Bucharest worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private tour: Medieval cities of Transylvania, 2 Days from Bucharest?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private tour: Medieval cities of Transylvania, 2 Days from Bucharest suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private tour: Medieval cities of Transylvania, 2 Days from Bucharest?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private tour: Medieval cities of Transylvania, 2 Days from Bucharest start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bucharest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bucharest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bucharest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
