12 day private tour of Taiwan
My elderly mother wanted to go back to visit Taiwan but she cannot walk long distances or climb a large number of stairs, and has memory issues so she cannot travel alone. I decided to bring her back with my family (5 people total), but due to her mobility limitations, I wanted a private tour that would provide the flexibility to customize activities and change the schedule as needed. Topology was a great fit. They designed a tour of Taiwan leaving from Taipei, traveling to Taichung, Sun Moon Lake, Alishan, Tainan, Kenting, and Kaohsiung. We had a private driver in a 9 seat passenger van, and a private tour guide. We drove all the way until the end, then took the high speed rail from Kaohsiung back to Taipei. Because we have family in Taipei, I arranged our flights and our stay in Taipei before the tour started, but Topology definitely could have done that if requested. As for the tour itself, the itinerary was put together by Topology with my consultation. They booked the hotels, which were all in the 4-5 star range and excellent. They were able to provide a wheelchair in the van just in case my mom wanted to use it. Our driver, Alan, and our guide, Joanna, were wonderful. All breakfasts were provided at the hotels and were quite nice (far superior to breakfasts you would get at an American hotel), and a few dinners at hotels, depending on the location. My son is a baseball player so they arranged for us to watch a professional baseball game in Kaohsiung which was one of the highlights of the trip, a very unique experience when compared to an MLB game. We had quite a bit of rain towards the end of the tour and were able to rearrange activities or skip activities however we wanted due to the tour being private, which was a big plus. Our tour guide Joanna was great with my mom, often walking with and spending time with her, and keeping her safe, when we wanted to do more intensive activities such as snorkeling or hiking in national parks. Overall I would highly recommend Topology. The price is very reasonable, as expected a bit higher than a standard tour but not as expensive as high-end companies. You can make it as nice as you want, they will work with your budget.
Response from the operator: Dear Jeffrey, Thank you so so much for taking the time to write such a lovely and detailed feedback. It means a lot! I am delighted to know that we were able to provide the necessary flexibility you wanted, for your mom to go at her own pace (accompanied by Joanna) and despite the unfortunate weather towards the end of the trip. I am also glad to read that the hotels were up to your standards, with breakfasts to your liking as well! Breakfast in Taiwan is indeed yummy. Lovely to hear that you got on well with Alan and Joanna, especially Joanna's attentive care to your mom. She's great like that! Finally, great tip regarding the baseball game! To be honest, it was my first time organizing this activity for a client, so I am extra happy to read that it became one of the highlights of your and your son's trip! I will definitely mention it to future American travelers. Thank you sincerely for your recommendation and trust, I truly appreciate it. All the best and see you in Taiwan next time!

Excellent Tour Experience with Topology!
We recently did a three day multi-generational family private tour with Topology Travel in Taipei, Taiwan. I worked with Chloe from their main office and our tour guide and driver was Logan for the actual tour. Both Chloe and Logan were excellent. Chloe helped me plan a wonderful tour that started from the moment we landed in Taipei. The tour was well organized and thoughtfully planned to accommodate our group of 5, which ranged in ages 16 - 79. Logan was always punctual, polite and extremely helpful. He was also very knowledgeable and personable. Logan is the best! We very much enjoyed our tour and can't say enough great things about Topology Travel! We were extremely happy with our tour and would definitely work with them again!
Response from the operator: Dear EEJ818, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful review! It was such a pleasure working with you to plan the tour for your family, and I’m truly glad to hear that everything, from the moment you landed in Taipei to the last day, was enjoyable for your whole family! I’m also glad that Logan made such a positive impression on your group. He is a caring and knowledgeable guide, and I will surely share your kind words with him. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you and your family back to Taiwan in the future for more memorable experiences! Best regards, Chloe

4 days / 3 nights accessible travel in Taipei
Chanced upon them while searching for accessible travel for Taiwan. Corresponded via email with Core Liu thereafter who was very patient and took the effort to provide us with details regarding our trip. We were presently surprised when our transport turned out to be a large accessible bus for our family of 8. Accommodation provided were very nice and comfortable and both our guide (Fred) as well as driver were accommodative to our requests as well as mindful of the accessibility requirements throughout. Would definitely recommend going this company for anyone looking for accessible travel in Taiwan.

Amazing 7-day Taiwan trip with even more amazing guide Ms Vicky Chen
Our first time with Topology after recommendations from friends and colleagues. I communicated with Shirley in preparation for the trip. Shirley is very patient and prompt in her replies. I made a few changes throughout the planning stage and each time Shirley responded promptly, patiently and professionally. She even helped to check that the hotels I picked out were suitable for our stay, giving some suggestions along the way. She is flexible and accommodative. On one of the days, the bus driver was late and Shirley (Topology) was quick to do service recovery by treating us to a sumptuous lunch. We got Miss Vicky Chen as our guide for our 7 day trip there. On arrival Vicky greeted us with a friendly smile. She also did a very thorough introduction in the mini bus using a 3D map of Taiwan. Vicky ensured that we were safely checked in before leaving. Vicky is very knowledgeable and would often share interesting nuggets of information along the way. Given it's summer in Taiwan, she constantly reminded us to drink sufficient water to stay hydrated. She also made sure all of us has mosquito repellent on at all times (yes, she went around spraying mozzie repellent on each of our arms and legs) To the unfortunate few of us who got bitten, she readily whipped out her anti itch ointment to apply (she is well prepared and seem to have a Doraemon bag containing all necessities one can think of! She even chilled a packet of wet wipes for us) Throughout the trip she peppered us with mini quizzes complete with jellies as reward for answering correctly, to keep the children entertained. She was very flexible and made great impromptu suggestions whenever she felt it was getting too hot or we were too tired to continue walking. She was very attentive to our needs and would try her best to bring us to eat the food we wanted to try as well as helping us to book in advance certain foodstuff so that we could skip the queue. Not only that, she even treated us to treats along the way (Tea leave egg, mochis, etc to name a few). Knowing that it was my mother-in-law and sister-in-law's birthday, Vicky even went the extra mile of getting them a gift each (something to remember Taiwan by which made it al the more memorable for them) Shirley from Topology also prepared a cake. All in all, Vicky made this trip very memorable and fun for our whole family. She is patient and great with kids and attentive to everyone's needs to ensure we get the best experience possible for our visit to Taiwan. Our drivers (Mr Zhang when we were in Taipei and Mr Ling when we were in Hualien) were also very helpful and accommodative. They are always ready to help with luggage and their driving skills are superb. Once again, a big thank you to Topology (Shirley), our bus drivers and especially our guide Vicky Chen! Thank you for making our trip such a memorable and fun filled one and we look forward to our next trip to Taiwan again!
Response from the operator: Dear Julia, It was nice working with you for the past months. Thank you for the positive feedback about our service. It feels like I was traveling with you in Taiwan as well when reading your review. It’s wonderful to know that Vicky prepared quizzes complete with jellies as reward for answering correctly, to keep the children entertained. No wonder the children didn’t want to go home haha. We really look forward to your next visit to Taiwan! Best Regards, Shirley

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour: Jiufen Gold Rush Town and Yehliu National Geopark from Taipei: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Taipei.
How much does Private Tour: Jiufen Gold Rush Town and Yehliu National Geopark from Taipei cost?
+
Prices start at $140 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Taipei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour: Jiufen Gold Rush Town and Yehliu National Geopark from Taipei take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Taipei is not rushed.
Is Private Tour: Jiufen Gold Rush Town and Yehliu National Geopark from Taipei worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Taipei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour: Jiufen Gold Rush Town and Yehliu National Geopark from Taipei?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Private Tour: Jiufen Gold Rush Town and Yehliu National Geopark from Taipei suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour: Jiufen Gold Rush Town and Yehliu National Geopark from Taipei?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Taipei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Taipei and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour: Jiufen Gold Rush Town and Yehliu National Geopark from Taipei start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Taipei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Taipei?
+
On Outty we rank every Taipei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Private Custom Taipei City Tour, Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi, Full-Day Private Northern Taiwan Tour from Taipei with Pickup. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Taipei?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Taipei?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
