Private Half Day Tour of Sintra, Cabo do Roca, Cascais and Portuguese Riviera

Private Tour Half Day of Sintra, Cabo do Roca, Cascais and Portuguese Riviera Evelyn_P, May 2025 The two girls appeared very professional with their outfits and their nice Mercedes Benz sedan. Carina, from the start, was a very good and careful driver but did not add to our conversations because she spoke and understood very little English. On the other hand, Diana, our tour guide, was not very knowledgeable about simple historical facts regarding the population of Lisbon and Sintra, etc. She was a bit quiet from the start after they picked us up from the cruise port. We were expecting her to be very vocal in her descriptions of what the half day plan is. She was quiet. Our first stop was the National Palace of Queluz that wasn't even part of the itinerary described in the booking. As such, we paid 10 Euros each to enter this palace that wasn't really outstanding. Because she didn't tell us how much time we have for this drop off, we wasted some time there and ate up our time with places described in the booking. We also thought that she will come with us inside the palace but she didn't. She seemed to have no time-line as to how many minutes we should spend in Sintra. She said we can spend an hour there which we thought was a bit much considering that we only have a half day for this tour. But we decided to spend only half an hour, on our own, and looked for them. We bought piriquitas which she suggested and they were delicious. After Sintra, we proceeded to Cabo do Roca which was very scenic and made our trip at least worth it for we felt that we have reached the westernmost edge of the continental Europe. However, because of her incompetence in her time management and touring skill, we were told that Cabo do Roca was our last stop and that we have to go back to the cruise port. According to the booking descriptions, we should have gone to Pena Palace while in Sintra at least for a photo stop there. We also didn't go to Cascais and the Portuguese Riviera due to time constraints. Diana is not ready to be a tour guide for reasons described. Another disappointment with these two ladies was when we asked to be dropped off at the Commerce Square rather than the cruise port. Unfortunately, this instruction wasn't even followed when Carina dropped us off at the wrong place (Time Out Market) which caused us to walk 850 meters more. However, inspite of their shortcomings, we still gave each of them tips for their efforts.

    Wonderful tour and tour guide!!

Luis was an excellent tour guide.. prompt, accommodating to one of our group members who needed some special accommodation for mobility issues. His knowledge base was admirable regarding the history of the area as well as the current environment. The four members of our group couldn’t have been more pleased! I would highly recommend Luis!!!

Response from the operator: Thak you very much for your lovely words.

    Disappointing Tour

YTours passed the job to another vendor who was not aware we had the stops promised in the advertisement. After a trip to Sintra and National Palace of Queuz said our time was up. We had to pay extra to see Cascais and have him drive the shoreline to our hotel in Baxia. We didn’t even see the Peña Palace which is pictured in the advertisement. Not a happy tour.

Response from the operator: We accept that you didn't like the tour, but we don't accept that you should denigrate our image or report facts that aren't true and that are lies... First of all, the guide has worked with Ytours for a long time and is a professional. You had a 4-hour HD Sintra tour and wanted to do an 8-hour FD Sintra tour without paying any extra... if you had read the tour description you would have noticed that a 4-hour tour does not include a visit to the Palaces only time for pictures. The guide said that the gentlemen hadn't accepted what they'd been told and had forced them to visit the Palace. It was after entering the Palacio de Sintra that the guide told you that if you wanted to visit the Palace you had to pay for the whole day... Ytours is not fooling anyone and we suggest that next time you buy a tour you read that it is included. Thanks and regards

Private tour half day Sintra-Cabo Roca-Cascais-Portuguese Riviera: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.

How much does Private tour half day Sintra-Cabo Roca-Cascais-Portuguese Riviera cost?

    +

Prices start at $48 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private tour half day Sintra-Cabo Roca-Cascais-Portuguese Riviera take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.

Is Private tour half day Sintra-Cabo Roca-Cascais-Portuguese Riviera worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private tour half day Sintra-Cabo Roca-Cascais-Portuguese Riviera?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private tour half day Sintra-Cabo Roca-Cascais-Portuguese Riviera suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private tour half day Sintra-Cabo Roca-Cascais-Portuguese Riviera?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private tour half day Sintra-Cabo Roca-Cascais-Portuguese Riviera start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lisbon?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
