    Probably my favorite excursion ever

This was actually the Cape Sounio Tour with Wine Tasting. We cruise frequently and almost always do our excursions away from the cruise line and this was the best excursion we have ever taken.... Anywhere. To be honest, I was concerned prior to the tour b/c it was very difficult to contact Private Tours Greece after we had paid in full. I always try to reach out before leaving the house for the trip and they would not answer my email until I went directly to the website and sent a new email as a "prospective client" and then they responded. Honestly, I was concerned b/c the registration was so easy that I was worried I had missed something. Silly issue and glad I didn't stray from them b/c we got to meet GEORGE! The trip started with George meeting us at the cruise port with a sign with our names. After introductions, my wife and I and our two best friends boarded a beautiful new Mercedes van for the ride to Cape Sounio. The drive alone was magnificent, reminding me of the Amalfi Coast with crystal clear water and amazing scenery. The drive took about 1.5 hours I believe but was worth every minute. Once at Cape Sounio, we were able to see Poseidon's Temple, walk the grounds on our own. Because we were a private tour and it was early in the morning, we beat all the cruise ship tourists and we were by ourselves. We may have seen 10 other people the entire stop. George allowed us to take our time and relax. The temple is magnificent. When we boarded the van, George had fresh cold water at everyone seat and we were ready to go. The entire time in the van, George is pointing out important building and landmarks. On the way back to Athen's, we stopped at our first winery that George arranged for us to tour called Nikolou. It is a small family winery near Athen's. We again were the only people there and the gentleman about to give our tour happened to be the owner's son and head of agriculture for the company. We toured the facilities and then sat for an extended tasting. Just as it was starting, the owner came out and asked if he could taste with us and it was amazing. The owners wife made a charcuterie board and various breads. Amazing stop... Thank you George! Our next stop was a larger winery but also not crowded called Papagiannakos. Also an amazing stop with a great tour and the head wine maker took us on our tour and tasting as well. This is when the tour would usually end but George found out it was our anniversary. George called and arranged dinner on the beach in Athens at a very upscale restaurant. He called the restaurant, asked for the seating on the water and arranged everything. There was no waiting and we sat immediately upon arrival. Since this was beyond the tour times, we asked George to take us there and we would get a cab or Uber to the ship. He declined and waited for us to finish and took us back to the boat. On the way back to the ship, George asked to take a quick detour and stopped at a local bakery and had purchased a beautiful and very delicious cake to take back to the ship for our anniversary. George got a healthy tip to say the least. I honestly looked like a rock star to my wife but I did have to tell her this was all George and I did not prearrange this. He was amazing. The tour is a must on its own but I have never seen someone go so far out of the way to treat a customer. If you are in Athen's and are looking for something to do away from the Parthenon, this is a must and I highly recommend Private Tours Greece. If you can, fight to get George.

A transit day from cruise and a late night flight

o e thank you for a fabulous day's tour with your driver Mr Vassilis with all the timings and flexibility in place so that 100% of our needs were met. In particular please thank our guide - George ( Brilis), (who similar to his name) was absolutely brilliant . As I discussed with you in my early e-mails, we had some in the Group with limited mobility and George's adaptability and flexibility in tailoring the tour to meet our requirements was superb. He ensured that those who couldn't walk up to the Acropolis, were still included by sitting round when we re-joined the group in the cafe , and talking through with his extensive knowledge and maps a summary of all the things he's already told those who had been with him. His flexibility in switching the tour if we had seen enough in one place was exactly what we had requested and we benefitted from his extensive knowledge, his excellent spoken English, as well as his friendly informative and relaxed style which made us feel that he was one of our friends in the group. At the end of the tout we asked George if he would be our guest at lunch and were delighted when he accepted and took us to a super friendly taverna serving wonderful home cooked food which the grandma came and described how she cooked each special dish. This was one of our holiday highlights, as there were no tourists, only local people it was much cheaper and better quality than we could ever have imagined. George, Mr Vassilis and Tours-Greece didn't just meet our expectations, you surpassed them on what could have been a boring and tiring transit day stuck in the airport awaiting our flight. The luxury coach was perfect and the ease of communication with you Dimitra and Effie via e-mail , made it so easy in ensuring all needs were met. Thank you all again for a great 10 hour day with perfect punctuality at all stages. Please feel free to use this e-mail as recommendation to others who ask for a Tours Greece guided tour, and please pass on our feedback to George and Mr Vassilis also Many thanks and kind regar Les ( Peter) Underwood

Fantastic Educational tour of the Acropolis and the Pantheon

I had my own personal tour guide from Athens who explained the history and Mythology of the Acropolis and the Pantheon. Ava was personable and professional and added his personal recommendations on area restaurants and places to visit. I learned more in a day touring Athens, the Athenian Riviera, Cape Sounio and the Temple of Posieden than I could have spending a week on my own in Athens.

Response from the operator: Hi Michael, thank you very much for your kind words! Dimitra

How much does Private Tour Acropolis & Cape Sounio Through the Athenian Riviera cost?

    +

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour Acropolis & Cape Sounio Through the Athenian Riviera take?

Is Private Tour Acropolis & Cape Sounio Through the Athenian Riviera worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour Acropolis & Cape Sounio Through the Athenian Riviera?

How far in advance should I book Private Tour Acropolis & Cape Sounio Through the Athenian Riviera?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour Acropolis & Cape Sounio Through the Athenian Riviera start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Athens?

    +

On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Athens?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Athens?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
