We had a wonderful time with Vassia, our wine and tapas guide. She was so kind and warm and personable and knowledgeable. The bar we went to was so lovely, the staff was so welcoming! We had the tastiest wines and lovely, elegant tapas. We had a great experience and made friends in the process. Would most definitely recommend!

Meze and Wine Tour
Our tour with Vassia was wonderful. We learned all about the wines in the region and what best to pair them with. The meze plates were delicious and the ambience was beyond our expectations. The staff at the place we visited were so delightful. We’ll do this tour again next time we visit Athens.

A local's take on food and wine, well worth the cost!
My friends and I signed up for the Wine and Meze experience on the day of and Alternative Athens was extremely accommodating to fit us in. We had a GREAT experience with Andreas, who walked us through the history of wine making and how Greek wine fits into the picture. There was plenty of wine to enjoy and A LOT of delicious small plates to snack on, all of which were explained by Andreas and the staff at the cozy cafe where this all took place. In our group we had some people that are very familiar with wine and some that are new to it. This experience was great for both! Andreas is what really made the experience memorable. I never felt like we had a tour guide just spouting off a script about wine, food, and Greece. It was more like hanging out with an old friend who is well-traveled, cultured, and extremely knowledgable of wine, food, and greek and world history. Well worth the cost!
Response from the operator: Hello sighos999, We are excited that you felt the true essence of Greek Hospitality in our Greek Wine and Meze Tasting Tour. We’re passionate about serving delicious food with a taste of history so it’s fantastic you enjoyed the greek tapas and the cozy wine bars so much! Thank you for leaving such a lovely review, the Alternative Athens team, and especially Andreas our tour guide, really appreciates the feedback. We hope to see you again soon in one or more of our high quality tours in Athens and beyond! Warm Regards, Phaedra

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour: Acropolis Mythology & Food Walk Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Private Tour: Acropolis Mythology & Food Walk Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $109 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour: Acropolis Mythology & Food Walk Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Private Tour: Acropolis Mythology & Food Walk Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour: Acropolis Mythology & Food Walk Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour: Acropolis Mythology & Food Walk Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour: Acropolis Mythology & Food Walk Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour: Acropolis Mythology & Food Walk Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
