Amazing Sri Lanka Road Trip

My wife and I booked our Sri Lanka road trip with Sri Lanka Drive Safe, and it turned out to be an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. It was a complete Airport-to-Airport package, and the entire journey was planned and executed beautifully. Nisal was our tour operator and point of contact, while Nish was our assigned travel partner from the company. And honestly, Nish made our trip truly exceptional and memorable. We were warmly welcomed at the airport by Nish with a beautiful shell necklace, and from there began our incredible journey through Negombo, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Mirissa, Weligama and Bentota, before returning to Negombo. We stayed one or two nights at almost every destination, which gave us a wonderful mix of experiences without making the trip feel rushed. Over approximately 1,200 km, we experienced everything Sri Lanka has to offer — scenic coastal roads, breathtaking mountain views, beautiful tea estates, ancient temples, stunning beaches and several must-visit attractions. Every drive was an experience in itself. One thing that made the journey even more special was Nish's knowledge of local food and authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. He suggested some fantastic places to eat and introduced us to local dishes that we might otherwise have missed. As die-hard foodies, this added an entirely different dimension to our trip and made the experience even more soulful. And then came the most touching surprise of all. After learning that the following day was our wedding anniversary, Nish went out of his way to arrange a surprise beach dinner celebration for us. It was such a thoughtful and heartfelt gesture that genuinely touched us and made our anniversary trip even more special. ❤️ We would highly recommend Sri Lanka Drive Safe to anyone planning a road trip across Sri Lanka. And if you get the opportunity to have Nish as your travel partner, consider yourself lucky — his warmth, local knowledge, helpful nature and genuine effort to make every day special can turn a great holiday into a truly unforgettable one. Great and Safe Ride

We had a great experience with our driver from Colombo to Sigiriya. He was very friendly, on time, and drove very safely. The journey was comfortable and relaxed, and he was also very helpful and attentive throughout the trip. We would definitely recommend him to anyone travelling in Sri Lanka and would be happy to use his service again!

Touring Sri Lanka with Ishara

Ishara was an excellent driver! He was very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. He made our trip very memorable by ensuring to stop over at unmissable locations, showing us the local animals along the way and helping us try our first king coconut. He was always punctual and accomodating to our changes. He gave us insight into Sri Lankan culture, teaching us some of the language (with a great deal of patience as we practiced our enunciation!) and as two young female travellers we felt safe with Ishara across our 8 day trip!

Grateful for Our Thoughtful Driver Shamalka and a Company That Truly Prioritizes Safety and Peace of Mind

日本のシルバーウィーク(大型連休)期間の旅行だったため、日本語ガイドのタクシーの価格はかなり高く、空きも少ない状況でした。この会社は、日本人のレビューが見当たらなかったので少し心配でしたが、全ての旅程を終えた今、自信を持ってこの会社をおすすめします。この会社を信頼し、選んで本当によかったです。 --------------- 価格が安くも高くもなく、実績がある会社を選びたいと思い、4社8人ほどから見積もりを取り、じっくりと比較検討してこちらにお願いしました。 私たちは心配性のため、事前にいくつもの質問を送り、諸々すり合わせをさせていただきました。その際のNisalさんの対応の丁寧さが最終的な決め手となりました。 (私たちのルート上に、大雨で道路が通行止めになっている箇所があると聞き、手配前日に問い合わせると「当初のルートを変更し、安全性を優先したルートを使う」とすぐにNisalさんから返信がありました。おかげさまで、安心して当日を迎えることができました。ありがとう。) なにより、ドライバーのShamalkaに心からの感謝をしたい。これまで30カ国以上を旅し、さまざまな国でタクシーサービスを利用してきましたが、最も素晴らしいドライバーでした。彼が素晴らしかった点は以下の通りです。 ・安全で優しい運転(段差はゆっくり、歩行者に道を譲るなど) ・絶妙な距離感(私たちは英語が堪能ではない。直前に訪れていていたインドではたくさん話しかけてくるドライバーばかりで疲れ切っていた中、彼は素晴らしい距離感を保ってくれて神様に見えました) ・英語が堪能 ・報告・連絡・相談がしっかりしている(集合時や、合流時の連絡をwhatsappを通してしっかりしてくれて安心できた) ・トイレ休憩や急なルート変更等に適宜対応 ・ハードなスケジュールにも嫌な顔ひとつせず対応 ・気遣い(レストランを探してくれたり、入口が分かりづらい施設は入口まで案内してくれたり) ・私たちの考えを察し、汲み取る力 本当に思いやりがあり、言葉では言い表せないほど素晴らしいドライバーでした。 またスリランカに来ることがあれば、絶対に彼を指名したいです。全てが理想的なドライバーでした。 ありがとうございました。 【English ver.】 We were traveling during Japan’s “Silver Week,” a long holiday period, so Japanese-speaking taxi guides were quite expensive and availability was very limited. We were initially a little worried because we couldn’t find any reviews from Japanese travelers for this company. However, now that we have completed our entire trip, I can confidently say that we highly recommend this company. We are truly glad that we trusted them and chose their service. We wanted to find a company with reasonable prices and a solid track record, so we contacted around four companies and received quotes from about eight people. After carefully comparing all the options, we decided to go with this company. We tend to be quite cautious travelers, so we sent Nisal many questions in advance and discussed various details of our itinerary. His kind, thoughtful, and professional responses were ultimately the deciding factor for us. For example, we heard that part of our planned route had been closed due to heavy rain. When I contacted Nisal the day before our trip, he immediately replied that they would change the original route and prioritize a safer route. Thanks to his quick response, we were able to start our trip with peace of mind. Thank you so much, Nisal. Most importantly, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our driver, Shamalka. We have traveled to more than 30 countries and used taxi and private driver services in many different countries, but Shamalka was by far one of the best drivers we have ever had. Here are just some of the things that made him so wonderful: • Safe and gentle driving — He drove carefully over bumps and always gave way to pedestrians. • The perfect sense of distance — Our English is not fluent. Before coming to Sri Lanka, we had been traveling in India, where many drivers talked to us constantly, which was quite exhausting. Shamalka understood exactly how much interaction we wanted and gave us the perfect amount of space. Honestly, he felt like a godsend. • Excellent English — Communication was always easy and smooth. • Excellent communication — He always kept us updated via WhatsApp when meeting us, picking us up, or rejoining us after stops, which made us feel very secure. • Flexible and attentive — He kindly accommodated bathroom breaks, sudden changes to our route, and other unexpected requests whenever necessary. • Professional even with a demanding schedule — Our itinerary was quite intense, with some very long days, but he never once showed any frustration or displeasure. • Thoughtful and considerate — He helped us find restaurants and even walked us to the entrance of places when the entrance was difficult to find. • Excellent understanding of our needs — He was incredibly good at noticing what we were thinking and understanding what we needed, sometimes without us even having to say it. Shamalka was genuinely kind, thoughtful, and considerate, and it is difficult to put into words just how wonderful he was as a driver. If we ever return to Sri Lanka, we would absolutely request Shamalka again. He was everything we could have hoped for in a driver.
