    PV fishing

Luis & Luis were both fantastic fishermen

    Best captain!

Ramsey was the best captain! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! He had a good beat on where to catch the fish. He was very helpful in all aspects of the fishing (setting up lines, grabbing the fish off the hook, fileting fish, and anything else necessary). He even fixed up some Tuna Tartar for us to enjoy while out on the boat. We hope to use him again next time we go!

Didn’t catch anything but not why I am disappointed

No transportation provided when it was advertised. Our meetup instructions were sent to us at exactly 11:00am which was the exact start time the event started, we likely got on the wrong boat as we were looking for our boats captain for over a half hour before the trip and the dock workers told us around 10:55 to jump on this other boat. None of this was realized until coming back to the dock. The start of the trip was super chaotic, if we did get on the right boat, it was not in the best shape. Giving 2 stars as our fishing captain was kind. We were also told the best time to catch fish is early in the morning, so if you don’t want to waste 4 hours going in circles you might want to book early.

    Fishing great, Viator support terrible.

Viator support very unhelpful. There was not enough details provided and the rep was somewhat rude when I asked them for more . We were promised private transportation to the port and they changed the booking after. We had to pay for our own transportation that was supposed to be included. No instructions on how to find out captain. Once we figured it out by ourselves the fishing was fantastic. We were on the fish immediately and our Captain Miguel was great. Could have been a little more prepared with the fishing tackle etc but he made up for that as we caught way more fish than those around us.

    Lack of preparation, and communication

I booked this 4hr fishing trip for me, my wife and 3 children (7,10,12). We fish freshwater all summer long at our cabin and have been on several offshore trips in Florida.   - We arrived 1 hour early to pay port fees and prepare for the trip. We notified trip operator that we were at the port and they verified they had let the captain know. 30 minutes passed and we still hadn't heard from the captain. We contacted them again to ensure we waiting in the right spot and they assured the captain was aware and on his way. The captain finally showed up 20 minutes late, but no one communicated there was going to be a delay. - Once on the boat the captain was not prepared. He was digging under the console, and the boat was heading towards concrete barriers and other boats multiple times and had to get the captains attention to correct direction. - None of the rods were rigged up for the trip. The captain wasted a bunch of time tying on leaders, and lures which should have been prepared before the trip. - Once he dropped the lines they were not rigged/weighted properly so they kept getting crossed/tangled with each other. So he had to reel everything up, cut off the lines and try again. He was using plastic baits and some old rusty crankbaits. There was not any live bait on board. The trip description specifically stated that live bait was included. - Ice and bottled water was suppose to be supplied, but there were a handful of bottles floating in warm water in one of the storage wells. no ice to be found. - The wind picks up in Puerto Vallarta in the afternoons and the captain took the boat right into the area where the waves were breaking the biggest. We ended up taking waves over the front of the boat soaking my wife and daughters. Gear was sliding all over the place and tackle scattering across the floor. - The captain then headed closer to shore where the waves were not as large. He called another boat and ran up to them to get live bait 3 hours into the trip. At this point the trip was beyond saving. This was a total waste of one of our vacation days. I am ok with a slow day of fishing, but the lack of communication and preparation is unacceptable. Fishing the ocean and catching saltwater fish was one of the things my kids were most looking forward to on this vacation and this trip totally ruined it.

Private Sport Fishing Activity in Puerto Vallarta: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Private Sport Fishing Activity in Puerto Vallarta cost?

    +

Prices start at $389 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Sport Fishing Activity in Puerto Vallarta take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Private Sport Fishing Activity in Puerto Vallarta worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 44 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Sport Fishing Activity in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Sport Fishing Activity in Puerto Vallarta suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Sport Fishing Activity in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Sport Fishing Activity in Puerto Vallarta start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
