    Great surfing experience

They were amazing. We left from San pancho, and drove to headquarters in punta mita. The team was so fun and ensured we all had a great time. Guillermo, cosette, Lalo, (and one other whose name I’m forgetting), all were fantastic! They kept the energy high, and everyone caught a wave and were giddy with excitement. They also took a couple of the more advanced surfers out to the break to make sure they had a good time

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re happy the team kept the energy high and that everyone was able to catch waves, from beginners to the more advanced surfers. We look forward to seeing you again for another great session in Punta Mita 🤙

    Great experience

Amazing experience. Instructors were fantastic. The beach was not busy and worth the 15 min walk down. Would go there again.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review. We're glad you enjoyed the lesson and the beach, walking down is always worth it once you see the waves. We’d be happy to welcome you back for another surf day 🤙

    Great Family Surfing Experience

We had an excellent experience with WildMex surf lessons. Our lesson was me, our nine year old son and thirteen year old daughter, and the instructors were excellent. We started with some discussion of the surfboard, and very specific instructions on how to navigate in the water and how to get up, and then practiced on land. Then when we were in the water, we were all able to get up very quickly, and do a lot of surfing despite being absolute beginners. Would definitely return.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your family’s experience with us. We’re glad the instructors made it easy and fun for everyone to get started, from land practice to catching waves in the water. It’s great to hear that all of you were surfing so quickly as beginners. We’d be happy to welcome you back for more sessions together 🤙

    Great instructors, unlucky with conditions

My family of 4, all beginners, 2 adults, 2 boys, ended up going on a big surf day. Lalo, Pascal, and Guille kept the boys safe and having fun. They kept the energy up and worked hard to get us standing (or attempting to!). We would happily try with the WildMex team another visit.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We know the ocean can be challenging, but we’re happy Lalo, Pascal, and Guille kept your family safe and energized. We look forward to seeing you again 🤙

First Lesson at Age 70 - Thanks Joe! :)

We got to the WildMex location a little early and were warmly greeted by Maria. We had enough time to take a walk down the winding trail that leads to the beach at La Lancha. The walk itself only takes around 10 minutes and was full of interesting sights (colorful little crabs, jungle-like foliage and friendly people.) Be prepared to walk over 2 or 3 narrow walkways. I took the trail bare-foot and had no issue at all. You will be carrying a surf board on your way to the beach for your lesson. Our surf instructor Joe was very friendly and thorough and had an overall positive/happy vibe. This was my friend's first experience surfing (at age 70) and with Joe's guidance, he did really well! The waves at La Lancha were nice and gentle for beginners, but expect to be a little sore afterward (in a good way) if this is your first time. :D Overall I would highly recommend WildMex and plan to rent equipment from them next time I'm in the area.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience. Starting your first surf lesson at 70 is truly special, and we’re glad Joe guided you through it. La Lancha is a great spot for beginners, and we look forward to welcoming you back for more waves 🤙

Private Surf Lesson in Punta Mita: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Private Surf Lesson in Punta Mita cost?

    +

Prices start at $135 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Surf Lesson in Punta Mita take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Private Surf Lesson in Punta Mita worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Surf Lesson in Punta Mita?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Surf Lesson in Punta Mita suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Surf Lesson in Punta Mita?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Surf Lesson in Punta Mita start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
