Catacombe San Sebastiano
Along the Via Appia, in a natural depression in the ground that housed a pagan necropolis, a Christian cemetery developed from the mid-third century AD. From 258 AD, as witnessed by the creation of a courtyard and a sacred shrine, liturgies were held in honour of the apostles Peter and Paul; the invocations of the faithful scratched on the walls can still be seen. At the remembrance of Peter and Paul, at slightly later time, the burial of the body of St. Sebastian, martyred during the persecutions of the third century, is recalled. Above the place of worship, Constantine (306-337) built a basilica dedicated to the Apostles, which later became the Basilica of San Sebastiano fuori le mura.

Perfect Rome Cruise Port Tour — Outstanding Service from Start to Finish
Our experience with Rome In Limo was outstanding from start to finish. Jany was straightforward, honest, and incredibly helpful in planning our private tour of Rome during our cruise stop. She warned us about possible last-minute changes when booking tours through some third-party platforms and recommended a reliable ticket broker for our Vatican Museums and Colosseum tickets in case we were unable to get the tickets ourselves. That advice was extremely helpful. Another huge advantage was that Rome In Limo is licensed to enter the tender area at the Port of Civitavecchia. Our driver, Alberto, was waiting with a sign with my name literally about 50 feet from the ship! With some other companies, you may have to make your way outside the port to meet your driver, which can be a hassle. Alberto was prompt, super friendly, and went above and beyond for us. We were having trouble communicating with the operator of a buggy tour we wanted to arrange at our next stop in Ajaccio, Corsica. Alberto stepped in, spoke with the operator in Italian, and helped us get everything sorted out. We really appreciated him doing that for us! Our guides for the Roman Forum/Colosseum and the Vatican Museums were both excellent. Our Colosseum guide took us through a less-crowded entrance where there was literally no one in front of us. Alberto also handled all of our drop-offs and pickups perfectly. At the Vatican, having a guide allowed us to use the direct passage from the Vatican Museums to St. Peter's Basilica, avoiding another long line outside. It was a long and very hot day, but everything went incredibly smoothly and efficiently. There was even a road closure due to a fire on our way back to the ship, but Alberto was communicating with his network to find the best detour and still got us back to the port with plenty of time to spare. We were able to see and experience so much of Rome in the limited time we had in port. Great planning, excellent guides, and outstanding service from Alberto. We couldn't have asked for a better family experience in Rome!

Rome in limo is the way to go!
I don't normally write reviews, but this was awesome! Janny answered my inquiries immediately. We wanted the flexibility to customize our destinations.... Stephano from Rome-in-limo delivered! With a six person van, we were able to get much closer to destinations than any tour bus. Maybe a few bucks more, but we covered twice as much ground. Don't spend big bucks getting there only to fall short seeing it.

Private limo
We booked 2 vehicles for our group of 15 leaving from Civitavecchia port to Rome. The drivers arrived early at the port and gave us a bit of history of Rome. We booked our own tour of the Colosseum. They made sure we got there in time. They made sure see as many sites as possible with limited time we had.

Steve (Stefano) was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating. The vehicle was very clean and he dropped us off and picked us up at the closest places possible due to my in laws health condition. Highly recommended tour especially because of Steve!

Private Shore Excursions from Civitavecchia Port: Rome highlights and the Catacombs: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lake Bracciano.
How much does Private Shore Excursions from Civitavecchia Port: Rome highlights and the Catacombs cost?
+
Prices start at $198 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lake Bracciano usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Shore Excursions from Civitavecchia Port: Rome highlights and the Catacombs take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lake Bracciano is not rushed.
Is Private Shore Excursions from Civitavecchia Port: Rome highlights and the Catacombs worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lake Bracciano, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Shore Excursions from Civitavecchia Port: Rome highlights and the Catacombs?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Shore Excursions from Civitavecchia Port: Rome highlights and the Catacombs suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Shore Excursions from Civitavecchia Port: Rome highlights and the Catacombs?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lake Bracciano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lake Bracciano and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Shore Excursions from Civitavecchia Port: Rome highlights and the Catacombs start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lake Bracciano within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lake Bracciano?
+
On Outty we rank every Lake Bracciano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Civitavecchia Shore Excursion: Best of Rome Private Tour, Food Tasty and History Tour in Civitavecchia, VIP Tour of Rome (3/5/8hrs) Colosseum & Vatican Museums. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lake Bracciano?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lake Bracciano?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
