Wonderful
Wonderful experience. Defne was the best host, a combination of Portuguese and Turkish hospitality. We cooked three tasty dishes and tasted original Portuguese delicacies and wines while cooking. Her apartment, cozy garden area that we ate together the stuff we cooked were very cute. And then one should not pass without mentioning the beautiful cat of the house Punto. Highly recommended.

Highlight of our trip to Lisbon
This afternoon was an amazing, intimate, and food-driven cultural experience. We got the opportunity to make several traditional Portuguese dishes with the thoughtful guiding from Defne. We got to enjoy several hours learning about ingredients, preparation, and finally dining/pairing with wines. This is an absolute must for foodies who want hands on experience to learn more about culture and the people behind the culture. Was perfect for our small group. I am sure large groups would enjoy just as much.

A Perfect gastronomic and Cultural Experience
I have taken many cooking classes and food tours on my travels. But never have I connected as much as with Defne! She supplies the background and history in conversations while you are cooking and prepping the meal. Her communication before the class, meeting instructions and vibrant personality make this a wonderful evening! And a big plus is that you leave with the recipes to make at home. The atmosphere is as warm and inviting as Defne herself!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that your experience with Defne stood out among the many cooking classes and food tours you’ve enjoyed on your travels. It’s lovely to know that her stories, knowledge, and vibrant personality made the evening so engaging and memorable. We’re also glad that you appreciated the recipes to recreate the dishes at home! We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Defne. We hope to welcome you back for another wonderful culinary experience in the future!

Fantastic experience, warm and knowledgeable person
Defne is fantastic in every way. Such a warm person and we loved coming to and seeing her home--good to see the real Lisbon rather than just a tourist place. Very knowledgeable about food and we learned more than just the recipes, e.g. how to do quick fermentation of onions, that we can apply to other cooking.

Great experience learned a lot
Defne is a fantastic instructor and host. Rather than just teach you specific recipes only she will also teach you about techniques and different options for different ways to cook the food and a lot about the culture. Really appreciated it.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time with Defne. It's great to know that you appreciated not only learning new recipes but also gaining a deeper understanding of cooking techniques, cultural traditions, and the many ways to prepare the dishes. Defne loves sharing her knowledge, and we're so glad that made the experience especially meaningful for you. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We hope to welcome you on another Traveling Spoon culinary adventure in the future!

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Portuguese Home Cooking Class in Lisbon with Defne: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Private Portuguese Home Cooking Class in Lisbon with Defne cost?
+
Prices start at $69 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Portuguese Home Cooking Class in Lisbon with Defne take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Private Portuguese Home Cooking Class in Lisbon with Defne worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Portuguese Home Cooking Class in Lisbon with Defne?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Portuguese Home Cooking Class in Lisbon with Defne suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Portuguese Home Cooking Class in Lisbon with Defne?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Portuguese Home Cooking Class in Lisbon with Defne start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
