Great experience
Our guide was extremely helpful and a delight - she carefully guided us to each site while the VR told us about the prior use and history and showed us how life was.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your five star review Kelli! We are happy you enjoyed your experience.

Top assistance
I highly recommend this structure for the extreme availability of the assistants, especially ANAS who, with his greeting, his smile and his translations from Spanish into Italian, made our holiday unforgettable. Thank you Anas for your kindness. See you soon, the family of three with the "glutenfree" girl. Laura

VR is a must for Pompeii!
Using the VR really helped bring the Pompeii experience to life. I travelled with 8 year old and 6 year old boys and they generally struggled to pay attention with traditional audio tours but the VR videos really kept them engaged throughout the 2 hours and couldn’t stop talking about it after we finished. Highly recommend this!
Response from the operator: Hi Anish! Thank you for the wonderful review. I'm glad the kids were happy and engaged throughout the tour. Was there anything we could've done better? We'd love to have your feedback. Jason

Wow! Amazing tour with VR to see how Pompeii once was.
This was just about the most incredible tour experience I've had in my life. And everyone in our party agreed. Pompeii is so magical and this tour with the virtual reality really brought to life the ancient Pompeii as it once was. The VR is a brilliant addition. Our guide, Imma, was so sweet and knowledgeable. We got to see the all the main sites plus some off-the-beaten-path spots. Flashback Journey to Pompeii, you made our trip! Thank you so much!

Great Tour
Our tour guide, Nina, was very good, but if you plan on going as a big group I would definitely suggest doing the VR tour as we did or get a tour which includes a headset. The city is super crowded and it was very difficult to hear at times.

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Pompeii Tour with 3D Virtual Reality Headset - Tour Assistant Only: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does Private Pompeii Tour with 3D Virtual Reality Headset - Tour Assistant Only cost?
+
Prices start at $42 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Pompeii Tour with 3D Virtual Reality Headset - Tour Assistant Only take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is Private Pompeii Tour with 3D Virtual Reality Headset - Tour Assistant Only worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Pompeii Tour with 3D Virtual Reality Headset - Tour Assistant Only?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Pompeii Tour with 3D Virtual Reality Headset - Tour Assistant Only suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Pompeii Tour with 3D Virtual Reality Headset - Tour Assistant Only?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Pompeii Tour with 3D Virtual Reality Headset - Tour Assistant Only start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
