Wonderful experience!!
Our tour guide Alex is absolutely fantastic. He’s super kind and patient, and he took our health very seriously. In the beginning, he let us try some local bread of Cusco and even gave us snack bags, which came in handy and is incredibly generous. During the hike, he was very caring to my family, especially towards my daughter. He let her use the oxygen mask, gave her a coca leaf, and even helped her walk down from the peak. He took the hike at my family’s pace and never rushed us. When we got down from the mountain, the driver, also named Alex, had already prepared for us hot towels, and Alex, the tour guide, even asked us if we wanted any tea or other drinks and for a stool ready for us to get in the van easier. The restaurant was also amazing and incredibly clean. The food is of amazing quality and delicious. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I highly recommend these two gentlemen.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It truly means a lot to us. We're delighted to hear that Alex made your family's experience so special. He genuinely cares about the well-being of every guest, and we're happy that his patience, kindness, and attention helped make your hike both safe and enjoyable, especially for your daughter. We're also pleased that our driver, Alex, helped make the end of your adventure comfortable with the hot towels and thoughtful assistance, and that you enjoyed the restaurant and the meal. It was a pleasure to be part of your visit to Cusco, and we're grateful for your recommendation. We hope to welcome you and your family back for another unforgettable adventure in the future. Safe travels!

Standing on the top if Rainbow Mountain
At 8:30, long after most tourists had departed for Rainbow Mountain, Ellisvan and Juan picked us up at our hotel and drove us through the crazy Cusco traffic, making it look easy. Along the way, we stopped so Elisvan could buy some of the prize winning bread from a vendor. Then he shared it family style. We passed through villages and farms where the people were dressed in their traditional clothes. At the emptying parking lot, we piled out and headed up. The timing was excellent because the crowds were gone. It was the hardest 3.2 km walk we'd ever done. Elisvan was solicitous and ended up carrying one of our packs. At the top, when we hit the spectacular view, he took time to photograph all of us and then the descent began. It was easier than going up, but still hard. There was Muna tea waiting for us at the van and then the drive down. We stopped at a restaurant where we had preordered our dinner and when we pulled in, we were served a delicious meal immediately. For the final portion of the journey, Elisvan cranked up the tunes and played us some of his favourites. I would recommend this trip and guide for anyone who wants to push their limits to see a natural wonder of the world.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your wonderful and detailed review 😊 We are delighted to hear that you had such a memorable experience at Rainbow Mountain and that the later departure time allowed you to enjoy a quieter and more rewarding visit 👍🏔️ We’re very happy to know that Elisvan and Juan took great care of you from start to finish, making the drive smooth and enjoyable even through Cusco traffic 🚐✨ It’s great to hear you enjoyed the cultural touches along the way, including the stop for traditional bread and the visits through local villages and farms 🌾🥖 We’re especially glad that Elisvan supported you during the hike, ensured your comfort, helped with photos at the top, and made the experience more personal and meaningful 📸🏔️ It’s also wonderful that you enjoyed the warm Muna tea, the well-organized meal, and the relaxed return journey with music to end the day 🎶🍽️ Thank you for your recommendation and for sharing such a meaningful experience. We hope to welcome you again in Peru for another unforgettable adventure 😊

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private - Palcoyo Mountain Tour | Easier Rainbow Mountain: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does Private - Palcoyo Mountain Tour | Easier Rainbow Mountain cost?
+
Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private - Palcoyo Mountain Tour | Easier Rainbow Mountain take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is Private - Palcoyo Mountain Tour | Easier Rainbow Mountain worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private - Palcoyo Mountain Tour | Easier Rainbow Mountain?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private - Palcoyo Mountain Tour | Easier Rainbow Mountain suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private - Palcoyo Mountain Tour | Easier Rainbow Mountain?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private - Palcoyo Mountain Tour | Easier Rainbow Mountain start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
