    More than just a hike

I highly recommend! Peni and his friend and driver, Pex, were legends. We had so much fun, sharing stories, reflecting, laughing. I was warmly welcomed by Peni’s community of family and friends. It was such a special experience - you should do it too! I got in contact with Peni directly and booked that way.

    From the moment Ravu...

From the moment Ravu picked us up, we felt so welcome. He was super friendly, shared so much local knowledge, and made the journey just as enjoyable as the hike itself. Pana was amazing—patient, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the local environment and made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the hike. Having lunch in a local village was such a special experience and gave us a genuine insight into Fijian culture and hospitality. It truly was the experience of a lifetime, and we feel so privileged to have met such kind, beautiful people.

Response from the operator: Bula Vinaka Vicki and Annie. Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful reviews on your adventurous day with us..My son Pena as your private tour guide and his uncle my brother in law Ravu as your private transportation.. Appreciate alot.. Vinaka vakalevu for choosing our small family private hikking business supporting small local enterpreneur like mine and traditional village community. We wish you both well and God bless. Vinaka Peni Dovi Highlander Twinny Tours Fiji

    Peni is the best!

We had Peni as our guide, and he was AWESOME. He was so personable, kind, patient, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our hike with him through his private company. Booking a hike with Peni is a must-do if you are in Fiji!

Response from the operator: Vinaka vakalevu ( Thank you very much) for sharing your kind feedback on your experience on the private hikking package that i offer. Appreciate it alot.. Kind feedback like this builds confidence and motivation to me as not only private tour guide but as a new up coming small business enterpreneur to maintain and carry on with the great customer services im offering to all our guests who would choose to book our small family private hikking business. Incredibly Beautiful Hike

Peni was an absolutely wonderful human being to have as a guide on this hike! He was extremely kind, considerate (made sure we properly hydrated and took breaks), super knowledgeable about the area and the trail, etc. He was such a fun person to also just talk to in general. My husband and I were on our honeymoon in Fiji, and this was one of our favorite parts of the trip because of Peni and the insane views on this hike! There were multiple amazing lookout points plus a huge one at the end where it felt like you could see all of Fiji - it was absolutely gorgeous. Another wonderful part of the hike was that at the end, we got to visit the mountain village that is right at the start of the trail. The family was so incredibly kind, welcoming and generous. We had a delicious meal of classic Fijian dishes, which really hit the spot after the big hike. We will never forget this amazing hike, or Peni!

Response from the operator: WoW! Bula Vinaka I wouldnt say more on how would be able to acknowledge on your kind words of reviews but the least i can say is Vinaka Vkalevu ( Thank You Very Much) for sharing your feedback knowing that you had a great time with my private hikking tour package that i offer with my comapny as your host or private tour guide on the day. I wish you both well with more beautiful years of happy marriages with your family and may God bless. Vinaka🙏😐

Hiking with the clouds and rain on Mt Batilamu Fiji and a home cooked meal in Abaca village

If you are looking for a beautiful challenging hike in the Fijian highlands of Viti Levu and a chance to experience the warmth and vibrance of the local culture this is the perfect activity. The/our local guide Peni is a Fijian of the warrior caste who cheerfully and with great insight shares his islands history, culture and struggles to integrate their village culture with the modern world of technology and the pivot to an economy where visitors are the norm. The tropical forest hike with natural waterfalls, high above the crystal blue ocean, is only exceeded by the home cooked meal in the local village of Abaca. After putting on our Sulu dress for the meal we were treated to coconut creamed Taro leaves, fishnoodles, fried pumpkin and root vegtables, fried rice and hot fresh mint tea. Our hostess was the village headmaster's daughter and shared her home for the meal. One word of caution: the hike, while not extremely long, is thru dense forest and the trail gets very wet and slick should the rains come as they did for us. So be prepared. This is not a hike for the physically challenged. However you are in good hands with Peni and you will be delighted and the rewards awaiting you on this adventure.

Response from the operator: Vinaka vakalevu Jay for your kind feedback and reviews on the adventure hike we dod together knowing that is us worth a penny choosing to book our private hikking tour we offer.. Thank you very muchfor choosing to share your money and with experince with our small local business supporting local enterpreneur and local fijian villages up the mountain.. I wish you all well and your family and friends and May the Good Lord Bless.. Appreciate if you would kindly spread the word and we would be ready as a family with our partner and family connections in the village to host you with a different experience you will remember for your lifetime. Vinaka and Regards Peni Highlander Twinny Tours Fiji. Local sole small business owner.

Private Mnt Batilamu Full Day Hike: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Viti Levu.

How much does Private Mnt Batilamu Full Day Hike cost?

    +

Prices start at $300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Viti Levu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Mnt Batilamu Full Day Hike take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Viti Levu is not rushed.

Is Private Mnt Batilamu Full Day Hike worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Viti Levu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Mnt Batilamu Full Day Hike?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Mnt Batilamu Full Day Hike suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Mnt Batilamu Full Day Hike?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Viti Levu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Viti Levu and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Mnt Batilamu Full Day Hike start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Viti Levu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Viti Levu?

    +

On Outty we rank every Viti Levu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise, River Tubing Fiji, Navua River, Naihehe Cave Safari in Sigatoka with BBQ Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Viti Levu?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Viti Levu?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
