About this experience

Cruisin’ Fiji is a locally owned and family-operated day cruise, offering an authentic Fijian experience with a personal touch. We keep our guest numbers low, creating a relaxed atmosphere where you’re welcomed like part of the family. In one unforgettable day, you’ll visit three iconic locations in the Mamanuca Islands: Mana Sand Bar, Monu Cove and Monuriki Island. Swim, snorkel and explore crystal-clear waters before arriving at Monuriki, the famous filming location of Cast Away. More importantly, Monuriki is part of our family’s ancestral land, making this a truly unique and meaningful experience. Enjoy a traditional Fijian lovo lunch, coconut husking demonstration, guided island walk, optional summit hike, homemade Fijian banana bread and genuine local hospitality shared by the people who call these islands home.

Departing from Port Denarau, your first stop is Mana Sand Bar—a remote stretch of white sand surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Mamanuca Islands. Enjoy a guided snorkelling experience just off the reef, where you’ll have the chance to see colourful coral and tropical fish in clear, shallow water. There’s also plenty of time to swim, relax or capture photos of one of Fiji’s most beautiful sandbars, recently featured as the opening location for Survivor US Season 50. Before departing, enjoy a light morning tea featuring homemade Fijian banana bread, freshly baked in our village for the day’s cruise.

  2. Mamanuca Islands

After a scenic 20–30 minute cruise from Mana Sand Bar, you’ll arrive at Monu Cove, a sheltered bay surrounded by volcanic cliffs and crystal-clear water. Swim, snorkel or simply relax while exploring another beautiful reef in the Mamanuca Islands. If you’re feeling adventurous, you’re welcome to take part in our signature splash competition from the boat—a guest favourite on every cruise. With calm conditions and abundant marine life, Monu Cove offers another unforgettable opportunity to experience Fiji above and below the water.

    60 minutes here

  3. Monuriki

After a short 10-minute cruise from Monu Cove, you’ll arrive at Monuriki Island, famous as the filming location of Cast Away starring Tom Hanks. For our family, however, Monuriki is much more than a movie location—this is our ancestral land, and we’re proud to welcome guests to a place that holds deep cultural significance. Spend over two hours exploring the island with our local guides. Visit iconic Cast Away filming locations, hear stories of the island’s history, enjoy a traditional coconut husking demonstration, or take the optional hike to the summit for panoramic views across the Mamanuca Islands. Enjoy an authentic Fijian lovo lunch beneath our handcrafted bures, cooked underground using traditional methods and served with local favourites including chicken, root vegetables, rourou, tropical fruit and our family’s famous coconut miti sauce. Before returning to Port Denarau, there’s time to relax, swim or simply enjoy the island at your own pace.

Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Viti Levu.

How much does Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise cost?

+

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Viti Levu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Viti Levu is not rushed.

Is Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 96 out of 100, which we label "Peak Performance". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 2,669 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Viti Levu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise?

+

Around 934 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Viti Levu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Viti Levu and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cruisin’ Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Day Cruise start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Viti Levu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Viti Levu?

+

On Outty we rank every Viti Levu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include River Tubing Fiji, Navua River, Naihehe Cave Safari in Sigatoka with BBQ Lunch, South Sea Sailing Full Day Trip with Lunch & Drinks (min 5 years). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Viti Levu?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Viti Levu?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
