    The guide not knowledge...

The guide not knowledge of the subject but nice. For $75 per person they didn’t have a plan what to see to fill the time. Make it shorter and cheaper

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to know that you found our guide friendly and pleasant. Regarding the tour price, it includes entry fees, an air-conditioned private vehicle, a licensed guide, and third-party booking commissions, all of which contribute significantly to the overall cost. Our intention was to explore more sites and provide a more comprehensive experience. However, during the tour, you mentioned that it was too hot and requested changes to the itinerary. You had originally booked a different experience and then requested a last-minute change to the Elephanta Caves tour without any additional charge. Despite these changes, we did our best to accommodate your requests and successfully delivered the tour. We would also like to point out that this review has been posted under the wrong business, as you did not take the Jewish tour with our company. We kindly request that you remove or correct the review to ensure it accurately reflects your experience. Thank you for your understanding.

Do not take this tour, learn the info on your own from Wikipedia

The tour is not worth your time nor money, We were very disappointed. Our driver Mukesh and his companion a lady were very nice and accommodating, however the tour is described as: "This tour starts with a brief orientation on India’s Jewish communities: the history of their arrival in India 2,000 years ago, geographical spread, the different sects and their culture. The guide will provide you with illustrated handouts and notes to deepen your understanding of India’s Jews. Over these 2,000 years, the Jewish people and their customs have been accepted. You will start with Sassoon Docks, built by an influential family of Baghdadi Jews, which are bustling with activity in the mornings. From here, you will drive to the Gateway of India - Keneseth Eliyahoo Synagogue - with its beautiful interiors, and the David Sassoon Library. Next, you will visit the oldest synagogue in Mumbai, the Shaar Harahamim, or Gate of Mercy Synagogue, built in 1796, by Samaji Hasaji Divekar (Samuel Ezekiel Divekar), a Bene Israeli. From here, you will drive to the Magen David Synagogue, a tall blue building with a Gothic feel that towers over all the other buildings in the area" There was no guide to give you any information. We only went to the Tipheret Israel synagogue were a man did spoke briefly about his job within keeping the synagogue functioning. The Magen David synagogue can not be entered nor seen because of renovations so there was no sense stopping there and the Knesset Eliyahou synagogue had no one to explain anything there, besides the fact tht they charge if you want a photo. We never went to the Shaar Harahamim nor the library even though I asked if we were going there. We stopped at astore to see if we wanted to buy something, the prices were really high, i had already bought a pillow cover for the sofa for 200 Ru nad the same ONE there was 1000 Ru. I am not blaming our driver who as I said was a very nice young man but the company Mystical tours. If the excuse is because of the war going one things are different then DO NOT offer the tour. But war or not you did not fulfill the description of the tour since there was no guide for explanations, no literature given, no access to some of the sites. The $150 dollars for this tour was wasted. I could have walked to the Knesset Eliyahou synagogue from my hotel which I had preprinted the directions from google maps back home. I really think I deserve my money back or at the very least some of my money back since this tour did not delivered what was promised. M Bryant

Private Jewish Heritage Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.

How much does Private Jewish Heritage Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Jewish Heritage Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.

Is Private Jewish Heritage Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Jewish Heritage Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Jewish Heritage Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Jewish Heritage Tour?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Jewish Heritage Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mumbai?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Dharavi Slum Tour, Mumbai: Dharavi Slum & Dhobi Ghat Laundry Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mumbai?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mumbai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
