Kanheri Buddhist caves magical amongst Mumbai hustle
Kanheri Buddhist caves were the perfect anecdote to hustle of Mumbai. We booked with getyourguide and our guide Rakesh was incredible. Forget the elephant caves - a national park - ancient buddhist caves carved into the side of a mountain was magical and serene - without the crowds. Rakesh has lived there there all his life playing as a boy amongst the caves and cricket in open areas. HIs love of the site and insight made this tour special. And his patience explaining significance of the various monuments and caves was truly an experience. Very grateful for his time and the experience with getyourguide who made it easy. Even an AC vehicle to pick us up. Thank you Rakesh🙏
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your beautiful and heartfelt review! 🌿 We’re absolutely delighted to hear that your visit to the Kanheri Buddhist Caves was such a magical and serene experience — especially as a peaceful escape from the hustle of Mumbai. It means the world to us that Rakesh’s deep personal connection to the site, his stories from growing up there, and his thoughtful explanations made your tour so special. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to Rakesh — he’ll be truly touched by your appreciation. We’re also glad the booking process and comfortable AC pickup helped make everything seamless for you. Thank you again for choosing us and for sharing your experience. We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!

Excellent experience
The guide and the driver were really friendly and know about the caves. We were not able to climb to the last caves as it was raining and the route is a little risky but what we can see was awesome. What can make the tour even better is include for example as they are part of the national park to visit the Tigers as optional part.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re really glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that our guide and driver helped make the experience memorable. It’s unfortunate that the weather didn’t allow you to reach the last caves, but we’re happy you still found the visit awesome. We truly appreciate your suggestion about adding an optional visit to see the tigers in the national park. Feedback like yours helps us improve, and we’ll definitely take it into consideration for future tour enhancements. Thanks again for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure—hopefully with clearer skies next time! 🌿🦋

Nice one day trip near mumbai - Pradip Madgaonkar
I literally can not believe I grew up in Mumbai oblivious of this rich and extensive piece of history. Because it was extremely hot when we went, we did not visit all 109 caves. The ones we did cover were staggeringly beautiful and serene. The scale, complexity, practicality, and precision of the architecture are incredible for the time. I definitely intend to return and finish the rest. Naturally, on a relatively cool day.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for writing a review for us. We are glad that you enjoyed with our company. We would really appreciate if you recommend us to your family and friends.

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Kanheri- Buddhist Cave Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.
How much does Private Kanheri- Buddhist Cave Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Kanheri- Buddhist Cave Tour take?
+
Plan for about 0 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.
Is Private Kanheri- Buddhist Cave Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Kanheri- Buddhist Cave Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Kanheri- Buddhist Cave Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Kanheri- Buddhist Cave Tour?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 0-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Kanheri- Buddhist Cave Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mumbai?
+
On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Dharavi Slum Tour, Mumbai: Dharavi Slum & Dhobi Ghat Laundry Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mumbai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mumbai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
