An alternative tour of Istanbul
Our guide Renan Saylag met us at our hotel and gave us a choice, two cruise ships in Istanbul and so long queues at the major sites. She took us on a wonderful 6 hour tour of the alternative Istanbul. Round the backstreets, into local shoe makers ( and handbags). We absolutely loved it. When we return we will ask for Renan, a great guide, enthusiastic about her city and country. Plus she is a lovely person.
Response from the operator: We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed discovering the alternative side of Istanbul with Renan and that the experience exceeded your expectations. It is wonderful to know that her enthusiasm, local knowledge, and personal approach made your tour so memorable. We will gladly share your lovely words with Renan, as feedback like yours is truly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit to Istanbul.

Great introduction to Istanbul
We visited three of the most iconic visitor sites in Istanbul with our guide, Omar. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and spoke with us about other places we might visit on our trip with information about how to get there and suggestions of places to eat. We ended our tour with a visit to the Bazaar and again had information about the shops within and outside the bazaar and tips about safety etc.

Amazing tour and guide
We toured Topkali Palace, Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern. Our guide Sharif, arrived promptly at 0900 with a driver. Sharif was cordial and friendly and spoke English very well. We began the tour at Aya Sofia. Sharif gave us lots of details and history. Considerable time at Topkali Palace with lots of details and history. The Basilica Cistern is amazing. The Blue Mosque is beautiful and Sharif gave us a lot of information about Islam and customs. We skipped the Grand Bazaar with Sharif because we had already gone there. As the tour ended after 8.5 hours, Sharif took us by tram to a great restaurant we had previously found. The tour was very good with almost overwhelming information and sights. Saw these things one could see no other way. Sharif was a great guide. He gave detailed information and he was considerate. He knew site employees who often let us walk around long lines. Recommend this highly.
Response from the operator: Dear Stan, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that you had a great experience with your guide Mr Seref. It’s fantastic to know that his information, attitude, and perfect timing made your tour so enjoyable. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you on another tour in the future. Warmest Regards

I paid money for nothing, I called them and no body answered me. You people just making money. What a pity.
Response from the operator: Dear Arfa, Our tour guide was on time to welcome the guest, He waited more then an hour and he left after he asked the hotel reception and reception said that there wasnt any guest registered with this name! We have proved that the client is not correct. We ask you to delete this review cause its not true! and it damage our reputation... Thank you for your understanding

Why this scores 50
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Istanbul Old City Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.
How much does Private Istanbul Old City Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Istanbul Old City Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.
Is Private Istanbul Old City Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Istanbul Old City Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Istanbul Old City Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Istanbul Old City Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Istanbul Old City Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Istanbul?
+
On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Istanbul?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Istanbul?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
