What you get
About this experience
While Los Cabos is famous for its beaches and marine life, the Sierra de la Laguna reveals a very different side of Baja California Sur. Protected as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, these mountains capture seasonal rainfall that feeds freshwater springs, streams, and natural pools throughout the Santiago region. The oasis at Sol de Mayo exists because water flowing from the mountains sustains a unique ecosystem within an otherwise arid desert landscape. Over millions of years, flowing water carved the canyon’s rock formations, creating the pools, waterfalls, and natural pathways visitors explore today. What makes this private experience unique is the opportunity to enjoy these landscapes at a comfortable pace. Whether swimming beneath the waterfall, exploring the canyon, learning about local history, or simply taking in the scenery, your guide can adapt the experience to your group, offering a deeper connection to the natural beauty that exists beyond the coastline of Los Cabos.

A Wow! Moment hidden inside BCS
This canyon is in Santiago, BCS like 1 hr 45 minutes from CSL. Input in Googl3 maps or Waze "Cañon de la Zorra" or "Rancho Ecológico Sol de Mayo". The road trip itself is amazing. You are able to see how the topography changes as you leave the coast and go deeper inland. There is like a minute drive on dirt road but, despite what others have written, when I went the dirt road was pretty good. Please, remember it is a dirt road! I did it with a sedan! The entrance fee is $250 mxn per person. From there you just follow the mountain trail for like 12 to 15 minutes. At 10 minutes, give or take, you hear the sound of the water falling. At the end of the main trail, you either go left or right. I went right. It is not difficult but you really cannot have a walking disability or back, knee, hip issues. The scene is eye popping, it is a Wow! moment. The water is very cold but it did not matter too much with my adrenaline kicking in. The depth is shallow for 1/3, then deeper for the other 1/3, the rest is very deep. Be cognizant to the fact that you are very far from any help, ambulance, etc., so exercise prudence and take your time going down, coming up and in the water. Take pics, videos, narrate and the like. It is an awesome adventure!
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and inspiring review of your Private Hiking at Fox Canyon experience — what a ride! This spot in Santiago truly delivers one of those wow moments, and you described the journey beautifully. The changing landscapes, the short but scenic hike, and that first sound of the waterfall in the distance… it’s all part of what makes this adventure so special. We’re glad you found the trail manageable and the dirt road accessible — and yes, that cold, crystal-clear water definitely wakes up every sense in the best way. Your tips on safety and pacing are spot-on for anyone visiting this natural gem. Thanks for choosing High Tide Los Cabos for your hiking adventure. We’re proud to guide guests through some of Baja California Sur’s most stunning hidden treasures, and we’d love to have you join us again for more explorations. High Tide Los Cabos Team

Why this scores 81
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Hiking at the Fox Canyon from Cabo San Lucas: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cabo San Lucas.
How much does Private Hiking at the Fox Canyon from Cabo San Lucas cost?
+
Prices start at $220 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cabo San Lucas usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Hiking at the Fox Canyon from Cabo San Lucas take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cabo San Lucas is not rushed.
Is Private Hiking at the Fox Canyon from Cabo San Lucas worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 70 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cabo San Lucas, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Hiking at the Fox Canyon from Cabo San Lucas?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Hiking at the Fox Canyon from Cabo San Lucas suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Hiking at the Fox Canyon from Cabo San Lucas?
+
Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cabo San Lucas can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cabo San Lucas and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Hiking at the Fox Canyon from Cabo San Lucas start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cabo San Lucas within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas?
+
On Outty we rank every Cabo San Lucas experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cabo Desert Off-Road & Beach Horseback Combo and Tequila Tasting, Humpback Whale Watching Tour in Cabo San Lucas, Cabo All-Inclusive Private Beach Club with Open Bar and Buffet. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cabo San Lucas?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cabo San Lucas?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
