A Huge Expensive "Taxi Ride" with a Driver That Didn't Even Show Up
Unprofessional "scam" that is really just the most expensive taxi ride. Here's why: 1. DRIVER DID NOT SHOW UP AT: We were directed to show up at 9:30 am. The driver never showed up. I had to call the tour operator and he told me that the driver was running late due to traffic as he had to drop off his children at the school. I empathise with this but since we paid for a service, why didn't they find another tour operator? If this is a legit, organized tour operator with an office - wouldn't they have found another driver? The driver was expected to arrive at 10:30 am instead ( he was on his way ) but we had already been waiting for more than an hour with my two 70+-year old parents with slight mobility issues...and thus I decided to cancel. It was unforgivable that we got there 30 mins before and are made to wait another 1 hr. 2. TOUR OPERATOR : Tried to blame us by saying that he has been trying to reach me for days on an incorrect number on Viator. Although my phone number was incorrect ( it had a Hawaii number from when I was in Hawaii last ), he could have reached me via Viator app like ALL tour operators have done so. The tour operator finally sent me an email stating that he didn't have a password on Viator and that is why he couldn't get through. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL - so you run a tour via Viator and you don't have a password to access the info of your tour guests? Isn't this a priority since it is safer to communicate via Viator platform rather than through direct contact on personal calls or emails to customers? I have gone with Viator many times before but I think Viator is becoming a platform for scam artists, particularly expensive taxi rides. We paid around $ 300 USD to be taken by a tour guide and yet, even when we checked the price on an Uber to go to the location, it was not more than $ 25 - $ 30 USD. With a $ 300 USD price tag, we expect the following: a) Tour guide that arrives on time...at the right location and the right time. b) Detailed program sent ahead of time via Viator platform. c) Detailed information given on history, culture etc of the places We got none of those. We didn't even get a driver to show up on time at the right location!
Response from the operator: I warned that there would be a 20 minute delay due to traffic and the lady was very uncomprehending, she was very ignorant on the phone, shouting and wouldn't let me explain that I would give the extra additional time... we had an unforeseen event because of the morning traffic.

A great way to spend the day
This is the only way to visit Sintra. Your family gets picked up at your accommodations and takes you on a journey of a lifetime with no worries. We went to Sintra, then downtown Sintra, Cabo Roca and Cascais. Parking in these locations are very difficult to impossible. You don't want to spend time looking for parking and wasting your time. This is the way to go. Just remember to buy tickets for Sintra because they don't.

Wonderful Experience
The place is incredible and we were very lucky to have the tuktuk driver, who was extremely friendly and attentive to our group, taking us to the best places for photos. Just wonderful! I recommend it to everyone who visits!

Why this scores 48
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Half Day Tour in Sintra and Cascais: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Private Half Day Tour in Sintra and Cascais cost?
+
Prices start at $369 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Half Day Tour in Sintra and Cascais take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Private Half Day Tour in Sintra and Cascais worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Half Day Tour in Sintra and Cascais?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Half Day Tour in Sintra and Cascais suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Half Day Tour in Sintra and Cascais?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Half Day Tour in Sintra and Cascais start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
