About this experience
This private Day Excursion offers the chance to experience something of the Berber way of life as you walk through Berber villages and have lunch with a Berber family in their home. You walk along traditional mule tracks through small villages and admire the scenery of the Atlas mountains, including views up towards Toubkal. Typically 5 to 6 hours walking. Pick up is from your hotel in Marrakech around 9.00 for transfer to Imlil. We do not stop at stalls or shops unless, of course, you wish us to. On arrival in Imlil, you are welcomed with mint tea and introduced to your guide. He will discuss with you your interests, the time you have available and your level of fitness. As your Day Excursion is private we can adapt the excursion to some extent to suit you. Our price includes an extra mule if there are children (or child) in the group, in case they wish to ride or get tired. We can also arrange an extra mule for adult only groups on request.

Highlight of Morocco trip
We were recommended to book with Ahmed by a friend who had previously booked with him, and we’re so glad we did. Our whole day today was fantastic. We were picked up from our hotel in the morning in a comfortable van and then met by our guide, Abdul, who brought us for tea and talked us through the route we would take. We stopped for lunch at Ahmed’s house and were treated to a really tasty traditional meal. Ahmed and his family were incredibly friendly, welcoming and made us feel completely at home. Our guide Abdul was fantastic. He is a super friendly, genuine person with a real passion for the area. His knowledge of the local history, culture and way of life was incredible, and he made the whole experience so interesting and enjoyable. The scenery and experience were amazing, but it was the people who really made the day special. We would highly recommend Ahmed and Abdul to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable experience in Morocco. Thank you both for such a brilliant day! From Paul & Caroline 🇮🇪

Authentic Experience In Atlas Mountains and villages
We had an amazing experience, one of the highlights of our Morocco trip! Our guide, Lahcen, grew up in a village in the Atlas Mountains and showed us the real culture, villages, and local people, not the touristy version. We were picked up from our hotel by a private driver in a very nice car, and they even kept our bags safe for us. We also did some great local shopping at very inexpensive prices. Ahmed, the owner, personally made us a delicious lunch, and his sweet 3-year-old was there with us, which made the experience feel even more personal and special. Lahcen and Ahmed were incredibly warm and welcoming. Highly recommend if you want an authentic Atlas Mountains experience!

Authentic connection with people and nature
When traveling in Marrakech, my partner and I wanted to get off the beaten path and not only get out of the city but to experience something more authentic. The Atlas Mountains are a gorgeous natural space that allowed us to relax and let go of the tension from the cities. And the cultural experience we had there with Berber guides in guesthouses felt both authentic and meaningful. Ahmed, Mohammed, and everyone who we met were not only attentive and professional but warm and cared deeply about connection. Best of all, this company is run by real Berber people who are intentional about investing in their community. If you want more than just a day trip, consider a longer hiking itinerary to get a more sustained and in depth experience.

Discover the High Atlas
Had a blast on the Atlas Trek with Lahsen, Mohamed and Hamza along with the rest of the staff. We hiked four days in the valleys and ridges around Imlil. The hikes are pleasant and the people friendly. The guides take care of everything and communicate clearly. The temperate weather in the mountains in June is a great respite from the furious Marrakech heat. It is hotter and dryer on the ridgelines and surprisingly lush in the valleys and riverbeds. The amenities in the mountain huts were better than expected - every hut has working toilets. Bring TP. We had cell coverage at most times. The mules carry your bags so that you only need to carry water and a rain jacket for just in case. A day trip or overnight trip is well worth the excursion from Marrakech. A longer trip is well suited for enjoyers of the European hut to huts.
