A Magical Day Trip to Gobekli Tepe!

It was a journey to a magical place! Gobekli Tepe was on my bucket list, and Viator provided a wonderful experience! From the travel arrangements handled perfectly by Gizem to the amazing guide Yusuf and his driver Ali, every aspect of the trip went as I imagined it. Yusuf was outstanding, commentating and communicating his extensive knowledge, and making sure we saw everything from the best angles. He is one of the friendliest people I ever met, and seemed to know everybody that he met at each museum, offering them his blessings. He took us to a fantastic restaurant, Culcuoglu, where we had a sultan's feast for lunch! And the site itself, Gobekli Tepe, was as mysterious and awe-inspiring as promised. It was a day trip to remember, long hours but well worth it!

Epic site but not epic operator

Our guide Yusuf was amazing 10 out of 10. Knowledgeable friendly and kind. Tour is definatly worth doing but tour Operator however is terrible. Communication very slack included transfer pick up and drop off never happend. We had to get cabs both ways. Although we booked months ago flights were very early (up at 3am) and very late returning . Return flight was with a budget airline (8.45pm) yet many flights coming and going each day. Result a 20hr day of travel. Operator advised they would refund transfer portion of tour...but nothing and no post tour communication via ph, watsapp or text. For the $ of tour you would ecpect better, Viator need to Change tour operator for this tour

Gobekli Tepe and Sanliurfa are so worth the trip.

Our guide Yusuf was very knowledgeable, a native of Urfa. We had an amazing day at GobekliTepe and the surrounding sites. It was a long day with the flights, tours and car rides from Istanbul, but one we would do again!! Our only criticism was that although Yusuf was exceptionally knowledgeable, he was a bit long winded, and couldn’t walk and talk, we would stop to be educated. That made it difficult to stay on schedule and feel like we could fit it all in without being too stressed. That being said he was very well known in the city and this familiarity made us very comfortable walking among the locals and the busy areas.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your review. I am happy to know you and hope to see you again. :) Gizem

    Cool ancient history!

I loved, LOVED seeing Gobekli Tepe! Seeing in person what I've been researching for years gave me great joy. Also cruising the city afterwards was wonderful. It was thrilling to be with the locals. We saw almost no tourists.

Private Göbeklitepe Tour from Istanbul: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.

How much does Private Göbeklitepe Tour from Istanbul cost?

    +

Prices start at $849 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Göbeklitepe Tour from Istanbul take?

    +

Plan for about 15 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.

Is Private Göbeklitepe Tour from Istanbul worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 40 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Göbeklitepe Tour from Istanbul?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Private Göbeklitepe Tour from Istanbul suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 15-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Göbeklitepe Tour from Istanbul?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 15-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Göbeklitepe Tour from Istanbul start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Istanbul?

    +

On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Istanbul?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Istanbul?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
