What you'll see and do

  1. Peneda-Geres National Park

Made of Earth and Soul, this is one of the most magical places in Portugal. World Biodiversity Reserve by UNESCO since 2009, the park is a unique attraction in Portugal, for its size, diversity, and beauty. There are centuries-old agro-pastoral villages shaped by their isolation, history, and different local resources. Walk through them and interact not only with the inhabitants, but also with the animals that populate the park. You can also experience the most beautiful waterfalls in the park in a safe and pure fun environment. Lover of good food? You can taste the fantastic flavors of our picnic accompanied by one of the most beautiful views of the park. If on the other hand you would rather enjoy the comfort of a closed space, we suggest a lunch in a typical restaurant of the region. Do you like to walk? We have for you breathtaking idyllic trails with longer or shorter distances and less or more demanding walks. Personalization is the key to the success of your day!

Best Personalized Experience

Teresa was an exceptional guide for our hike through Gerês National Park — one of the most memorable experiences of our time in Portugal! She led us on a wonderful private walk through stunning landscapes, taking us to incredible viewpoints, beautiful waterfalls, and refreshing natural pools where we could cool off. Teresa knew the park inside and out and chose the perfect spots for us, making the day feel effortless and special. Her knowledge of the area, along with her friendly and encouraging nature, made the hike both enjoyable and inspiring. She also organized an absolutely delicious lunch that was the perfect reward after a morning in nature. Everything was well-paced, thoughtful, and tailored to us. If you’re planning to explore Gerês National Park, book with Teresa. She’s knowledgeable, warm, and truly passionate about sharing the beauty of the region. Five stars all the way — we couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Incredible experience with Daniel at Geres

My family went on a day-long private excursion to Geres National Park with our guide Daniel. It was a perfect day for us - Daniel was there first thing in the morning as promised, and we were off on the drive to Geres (it was around 1.5h journey, so the nice van was a plus given the time driving). Being a private tour, I was a bit concerned about the guide: it can be awkward if they want to chat the entire way (or not say much, for that matter), but Daniel was a wonderful guide who built the day around us and our wants and needs. He let us be quiet when we were, but also engaged when we did. He was knowledgeable about the park and taught us a lot about Portuguese culture. We really enjoyed talking with him and learning, he was very easy to like and talk with. We had an amazing time at the two lagoons that we went to - such clear and clean water, and the cold water was a delight after the hiking we did in the heat. It was a trek, but Daniel made sure to keep all members of my family at the pace they could sustain (he's in great shape - probably could have run up the mountains, no sweat! My fam: not so much). The lunch we had at the local restaurant was also very good, and gave us a more "local" (and delicious!) meal than the touristy stuff that we also enjoyed in Porto. Wish I could give him and the tour six stars. We all had a wonderful time, and it was the best thing we did in Porto.

Wonderful hike and lunch on Geres

We did several tours with detours and LOVED them all! This tour in Geres was one of the highlights for sure!! The scenery was magical. You have to be in fairly good shape for this hike and wear good shoes with tread. The lunch and wine in a local village was delicious! Marco was our guide and he was amazing!

Private Geres National Park Tour with Lunch and Transfers: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.

How much does Private Geres National Park Tour with Lunch and Transfers cost?

+

Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Geres National Park Tour with Lunch and Transfers take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.

Is Private Geres National Park Tour with Lunch and Transfers worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 82 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 199 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Geres National Park Tour with Lunch and Transfers?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Geres National Park Tour with Lunch and Transfers suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Private Geres National Park Tour with Lunch and Transfers?

+

Around 70 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Geres National Park Tour with Lunch and Transfers start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Porto?

+

On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Porto?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Porto?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
