What you get
About this experience
This private day tour will take you to the Medieval capital of Portugal for more than one hundred years, also a place of students having one of the greatest universities of Portugal for over five hundred years. Coimbra being one of the most historical cities is a place of beautiful views and beautiful historical buildings on the hill side of the east bank of Mondego, a truly amazing and beautiful city, during the students season we can see the black clothes traditional from the Coimbra students, the republicas ( shared houses for students) and the coffees and bars filled with people. In the summer you can hear on the streets the sounds of the portuguese guitar together with the voices of the students singing the fado of Coimbra.

Fabulous Day!
We had an outstanding day tour with Miguel - he is very knowledgeable, with lots of great information and a wonderful sense of humor (and perfect English). Miguel explained exactly how the day would unfold, arrived early to pick us up, adjusted the schedule to take our preferences into account, and made us feel like we did not have to worry about a thing. The vehicle was spotless and comfortable, and Miguel is a superb driver. Miguel knew the personnel at the sites we visited, and had very cordial relationships with them.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We truly appreciate your kind words and are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you again on another adventure soon!

Library, holy cross monastery, Conímbriga, patries and lunch
We had an amazing tour with Carlos, he was very knowledgeable about all the places he took us, always trying to accommodate us to the best he could, with water, local pastries And he took us to an amazing local restaurant that we would never found it if we did by ourselves

Amazing visit to Coimbra
Pedro M is a wealth of knowledge about Portugal's history and current-day society. He expertly weaved the past and the present on our visit to Coimbra, a fascinating city with the third-oldest university in Europe that boasts an extraordinary Baroque library. We had a delightful lunch at a spot he suggested in the center of the medieval old town and learned a great deal about the role of the Catholic Church in Portugal during our visit to the Santa Cruz Church and monastery. I would highly recommend a tour with him.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your kind words, its very important for us that you enjoyed your day out with us. Hope to see you again in Portugal soon big hug from Lisbon. Pedro

Coimbra tour
We had a FANTASTIC tour of Coimbra and the primary reason was because of our tour guide Miguel. We felt like we were in a history class, and he was able to share so much information about the area, the country, and. It’s culture. He was such an engaging person and so enjoyable to spend the day with. I would HIGHLY recommend booking a tour with him, if wanting to know about Lisbon, Sinatra, Coimbra or anywhere else you want to see. Was a great tour!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your kind words, its very important for us that you enjoyed your day out with us. Hope to see you again in Portugal soon big hug from Lisbon. Pedro

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Day Trip to Coimbra from Lisbon: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Private Day Trip to Coimbra from Lisbon cost?
+
Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Day Trip to Coimbra from Lisbon take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Private Day Trip to Coimbra from Lisbon worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Trip to Coimbra from Lisbon?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Day Trip to Coimbra from Lisbon suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Day Trip to Coimbra from Lisbon?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Day Trip to Coimbra from Lisbon start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
