Your day trip starts with a pickup from your centrally located hotel in Udaipur, the railway station or the bus station in the morning (please refer to Departure Time for options). The drive takes about 2 hours (depending on traffic) before arriving at Kumbhalgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn the history of the fort while enjoying its mesmerizing view. Commonly referred to as the "the great wall of India," it features the second largest wall in the world. Afterwards, visit the Jain Temple in Ranakpur. It is believed that the temple was built in the 15th century under the direction of Seth Dharna Shah, who was a follower of Jainism. He constructed the temple with the help of Rana Kumbha, the king of Mewar whose condition for help was that the temple be named after him. There are four entrances to reach the main chamber where the idol of Adinath is placed. There are also five pillars in the temple and each holds idols of various Tirthankaras. The biggest pillar that stands in the center holds an idol of Adinath. After exploring the temple, you will head back to Udaipur and will be dropped back off to your hotel.

Great day trip option in Udaipur
We really enjoyed our trip to the fort and the temple. Both are amazing and located in the greenest part of Rajasthan. Our driver Sameer picked us up on time. His English was rusty but we were able to communicate. He navigated the mountain roads like a pro and got us there in two hours. His lunch recommendation was great. Our tour guide at the fort, Saleem, gave us an informative tour. His English was great and he made sure we had a pleasant experience. The climb to the fort is steep and he paced it well so we didn’t get too tired. He gave us useful tips for the Ranakpur Jain temple. Highly recommend this tour! Thank you Saleem and Sameer!

Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur Tour with a Calm and Careful Driver
We joined a one-day tour to Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur, and it turned out to be just the right length to spend a day outside of Udaipur. Both sites are beautiful and well worth visiting. That said, please note that the road to Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur goes through winding mountain routes, and some parts of the road are quite rough. Travelers who are prone to motion sickness should take care. Our driver, Mr. Harisingh, drove very carefully and made the journey comfortable. His calm and gentle personality was a perfect match for us, and we really appreciated his company throughout the day.
