    Awesome Family Trip!

Desmond Tours exceeded our expectations! We booked a 4 day personalized family journey from Dublin to Kilkenny, Doolin, and Trim. Our guide was super friendly, and quite the Historian; we learned tons about Ireland in our travels. Des (guide) exercised great flexibility and customized our adventure along the way, based on our interests. We could not have asked for a better trip. The weather was PERFECT, and believe that it had something to do with Des' relationship with Mother Nature...?

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Tony, for your fantastic review! We're delighted your family adventure exceeded your expectations and that Des could tailor the trip along the way. As for the perfect weather... we'd love to take the credit, but Des is still refusing to reveal the secret behind his special arrangement with Mother Nature! We hope to welcome your family back to Ireland for another adventure someday.

    Delightful

We had a group tour with Paul on 20 June to Kilkenny from Dublin. A group of 7. The van was clean and comfortable and the guide did an amazing job. Engaging and interesting. I highly recommend.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review. Paul is our Kilkenny expert - we're delighted to hear you enjoyed your time on board the Desmond Tours bus with Paul. Many thanks for spreading the word about our tours!

A Magical Day South of Dublin

So happy we 3 sisters opted for a private day tour with Desmond Tours. Our driver/tour guide Brede provided expert driving and knowledgeable history and stories as we traveled through the Wicklow Mountains, toured Glendalough and wandered around and shopped in Kilkenny. Brede’s flexibility on a rainy day and selection of an excellent lunch spot, the Wicklow Heather were greatly appreciated. All in all, this tour day was the highlight of my birthday celebration in Ireland.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the lovely review! We’re so glad you and your sisters chose Desmond Tours for your special day. Brede is an excellent guide indeed and loved guiding you through the Wicklow Mountains and Kilkenny - rain or shine! We're thrilled the day stood out as a birthday highlight. Wishing you many more magical trips ahead! ☘️

Private Day Tour of the Medieval City of Kilkenny: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dublin.

How much does Private Day Tour of the Medieval City of Kilkenny cost?

    +

Prices start at $135 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dublin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Day Tour of the Medieval City of Kilkenny take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dublin is not rushed.

Is Private Day Tour of the Medieval City of Kilkenny worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Dublin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Tour of the Medieval City of Kilkenny?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Private Day Tour of the Medieval City of Kilkenny suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Day Tour of the Medieval City of Kilkenny?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dublin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dublin and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Day Tour of the Medieval City of Kilkenny start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dublin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dublin?

    +

On Outty we rank every Dublin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dublin to Cliffs of Moher, including Wild Atlantic Way and Galway, Dublin Highlights and Hidden Gems Guided Walking Tour, The Little Museum of Dublin Famous Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dublin?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dublin?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
