Ed Santiago: The Absolute Worst Tour Guide
I am very furious. Our tour operator Ed Santiago cancelled our tour and ruined our trip to Utah. First, we wake up in the morning just to see that our tour was cancelled by Ed Santiago. We called Tripadvisor and they said that Ed tried to call and contact us. Well, that’s a complete lie. In fact, we got absolutely nothing. Not a text, a call, or an email from him. Because of my high frustration against this tour operator I went to search him up. Just to find out that he was having the time of his life in Dallas, Texas. I am very disappointed. Never book this tour or Ed Santiago. AWFUL.

Ed Santiago, the Worst Tour Operator
Ed Santiago, our supposed to be tour operator cancelled tour the morning of tour. He lied and said he tried calling and emailing the night before trip, but was unable to get through. The lack of communication was his reason why he cancelled. Well, all of what he said was untrue. I never received either a phone call or message the day before. I tried messaging and calling him, but with no luck. Even the tour company tried and he never responded. However, I searched to see who he actually was and discovered that he sent posts of himself in Dallas, Texas, the day of our scheduled tour. I hope this tour company that Trip Advisor went through OPENS THEIR EYES to see what a terrible, unreliable liar this man is. He should be fired immediately. NO GOOD!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
The morning of the tour we received an email stating that our tour was cancelled. We received another separate email stating the reason was “lack of communication”. Edd Santiago, tour operator, stated that he tried to contact us via phone and was unsuccessful. Edd-we did not receive a phone call, voicemail, or email from you. For whatever reason, YOU decided to cancel the tour. After seeing this, we tried contacting Edd and he did not answer the phone. Also, we tried repeatedly with TripAdvisor and they could not reach him. In addition, unlike Edd, we left a voicemail to please contact us. Did we receive a call back-no? This company ruined our Utah trip as we were leaving Salt Lake City the day after and had no way to reschedule a tour that we booked several months ago! Stay away from this tour and operator!!!

Trip was cancelled without any explanation
The tour was canceled without even telling us or offering to correct the situation. We ended up having to drive out there by ourselves.

A nice way to spend the morning
Wonderful time. We had a special bonus in that the bison were being rounded up by volunteers on horseback. Our guide. Alfredo was a joy. He was warm, knowledgeable and very personable. A good time was had by all and it was nice to get out of the car and walk around.

Why this scores 43
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Antelope Island & Great Salt Lake Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Salt Lake City.
How much does Private Antelope Island & Great Salt Lake Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Salt Lake City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Antelope Island & Great Salt Lake Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Salt Lake City is not rushed.
Is Private Antelope Island & Great Salt Lake Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 43 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Salt Lake City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Antelope Island & Great Salt Lake Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Antelope Island & Great Salt Lake Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Antelope Island & Great Salt Lake Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Salt Lake City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Salt Lake City and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Antelope Island & Great Salt Lake Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Salt Lake City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Salt Lake City?
+
Salt Lake City is a basecamp: Big and Little Cottonwood canyon hikes and ski shuttles, Antelope Island and Great Salt Lake trips, Park City transfers and Temple Square walking tours. Winter transfer reliability is the single biggest quality signal here. On Outty we rank every Salt Lake City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Salt Lake City Guided Bus Tour, Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square & Salt Lake City Bus Tour, Great Salt Lake Safari - Discover Antelope Island. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Salt Lake City?
+
December to March for skiing, June to September for canyon hiking. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Salt Lake City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
