    Best experience ever.

Tony, Marco and Lorenzo were absolutely fantastic. From the time they picked us up in Naples, to driving through the Amalfi coast and getting us started on the Path of the Gods, to our return back to Rome for our flight out of Italy. They were extremely knowledgeable on the areas we travelled, provided top tier recommendations and always made sure we were set up to have the best time on our excursions and our entire stay in Sorrento. When Tony picked us up in Naples he immediately asked us how long we were staying, what we had planned, and what we knew about the area. He then provided multiple recommendations for where to eat, shops to explore and things to do. He also made sure we had his contact information in case we had any issues on any of our adventures. I can’t speak highly enough of the experience they provided, the history of the area, and the exemplary service. Highly recommend using Compass and absolutely will use them again when we are back.

Perfect Amalfi Coast Day with Private Driver Marco

I booked this private driver tour through Viator as one of the last things I decided to prebook before we visited this area. We did have a rental car but everything I was reading said don't even try to drive yourself on the Amalfi coast and we only had one full day to experience it so it seemed worth the money to book this tour. It cost around 725 Euros for our family of 6. Our driver, Marco, picked us up in a lovely van right at our hotel door. We immediately all liked him as he was super upbeat and kept up a wonderful narration of what we were seeing on the drive. The tour I booked included about an hour stop in the towns of Amalfi and Positano and a drop off and pick up for the “Path of the Gods” hike. It was about an 8-hour day total. The whole day was amazing and we never would have been able to see even a fraction of what we did without Marco. He was a great driver, everything you read about the skinny roads and the very intense drivers in this area is not an exaggeration. We all felt completely comfortable during all this chaos with Marco, he navigated like it was nothing, which was hugely impressive. He was also able to pull over at crowded viewpoints and pull into the heart of the towns to drop us off. He was able to bring us to places we never would have been able to take our own car to which saved us the anxiety of driving and the added time of trying to find parking further out and having to walk into the towns. Marco was also great at communication, fluent in English and super knowledgeable about the area. We had his whatsapp contact and each time he dropped us off he made sure we had a clearly communicated pick up plan and he shared excellent instructions on ways to best spend our time. Marco was also super flexible and we never felt rushed even though it was a packed day. For the Path of the Gods hike he even had a picture of what we would see when we needed to turn the correct way and what parts did not have cell services which was so reassuring! As an aside, if you are thinking of doing the Path of the Gods hike I would highly recommend it. It is an approximately 3-mile hike with stunning cliffside views. It was so nice to get away from the crowds of the Amalfi coast towns and feel like we could go slow and appreciate the natural views, I think we saw less than 20 other people on the trail. The hike was moderate with some elevation change and stone stairs. It was very hot and sunny mid-day but there were areas of shade and the trail surface was well maintained. There are areas of steep drop offs so it may not be ideal for young kids. Overall, the hike took us about 2.5 hours at a leisurely pace while taking lots of pictures. Marco met us at the end of the hike with the A/C blasting and ice-cold bottles of water. Marco shared a little bit about his life and about Italian culture with us when we asked and he was just overall the nicest and most informative guide we could have hoped for. Thanks Marco for a wonderful day!

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

How many days do you need in Sorrento?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
