What you get
About this experience
Our tour wants to relive Positano between past and present, immersing yourself in the local culture, superstitions, legends and everything that made this place what it is today. You will walk in the heart of the village alongside an inhabitant and local guide who is in love with the place where he lives and with his own traditions. We will move through the typical narrow streets, among the colors and scents, we could stop on request to taste some local products, take some time to get lost in the alleys.

What you'll see and do
We will start from the beating heart of the town, lived by the locals, a meeting point for groceries, shopping or to have a coffee at the International Bar. From there it will be possible to look at the bay from above and begin to appreciate the verticality of the country as well as the local culture.
20 minutes here
Grotta di Fornillo
Getting lost through the typical shortcuts of the "vertical city", we will grasp Positano from different points of view. We will admire the less famous "second", but no less beautiful, pyramid of houses in the Fornillo district, visiting the natural cave where a fantastic nativity scene is set in the rock. We will stop in a typical Positano house (my mother's) to enjoy a Neapolitan coffee made with a mocha, a homemade limoncello and for the little ones, a lemonade of local lemons.
30 minutes here · Admission included
Spiaggia di Positano Marina Grande
A final stairway will lead us down to the Marina Grande, the main beach. Once here we will get lost in the scent of the fish, the colors of fashion and ceramics and the sparkling gems of the sandals of local artisans. We will pass through the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, admiring the bas-relief, one of the symbols of the city that has its roots in Greek mythology.
60 minutes here · Admission included
Finally we will go up towards the center, Piazza dei Mulini, walking along the so-called artists' street, skirting the palace which was the summer residence of the Viceroy of Naples, as well as Napoleon's brother-in-law, Gioacchino Murat. For fashion enthusiasts it will be possible to visit a local artisan workshop of "Moda Mare Positano" clothes. We will end our visit enjoying a fresh lemon granita that recalls three past generations.

Wonderful walking tour with Ladybird
Ladybird is an excellent guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable about Positano. We loved stopping at her mom’s for mocha coffee and biscotti. She was so warm and inviting.

Positano hospitality with extra bonus -Coffee!
What a great way to start our trip to Positano! Our tour guide Saveria was a local who was so warm and friendly. She walked us in the back alleys and the main town to highlight the history and commented on places that she likes. We went to her Mother’s house for some coffee so we got to see a typical house in Positano. Both were so hospitable and made the tour memorable. My husband and I loved this tour!

Fabulous walking tour
This was the best tour to learn about the history and culture of Positano and the Amalfi Coast! Our guide was both passionate and knowledgeable. The tour started at the top of Positano near the bus stops meaning most of the walk was downhill. Good restaurants and shops were pointed out to us as well as local landmarks. The highlight of the tour was a visit to her Mum’s house for a traditional coffee. They were both so welcoming, such a unique experience.

You must book this tour!
Saveri was absolutely AMAZING. She was so sweet and passionate about the culture, legends and history of where she was raised. Her stories about the area and the people were wonderful. She even took us to her mother's house to make us some traditional mocha coffee which was delicious, along with a local pastry. Her mother is so sweet and gracious for allowing us into her home. Highly recommend taking this tour, you won't be disappointed!

Positano Walking Tour with a Local Guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Positano.
How much does Positano Walking Tour with a Local Guide cost?
+
Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Positano usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Positano Walking Tour with a Local Guide take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Positano is not rushed.
Is Positano Walking Tour with a Local Guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Positano, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Positano Walking Tour with a Local Guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Positano Walking Tour with a Local Guide suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Positano Walking Tour with a Local Guide?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Positano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Positano and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Positano Walking Tour with a Local Guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Positano within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Positano?
+
On Outty we rank every Positano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cooking class with Pasta, mozzarella and Tiramisu with wine, Capri and Blue Grotto Semi Private Boat Day Trip from Sorrento, From Sorrento: Positano & Amalfi Coast Boat Tour with Pick Up. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Positano?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Positano?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
