    About this experience

We were born, raised and always lived in Porto, so we know the city as a local and, since it is a private tour, we will customize it according to your interests. In this private food/wine tour we will focus on Portuguese gastronomy, but you will learn a lot about our culture, history and traditions, which makes us unique. You will visit the Bolhão market and several food spots and tascas (traditional stores), while getting in contact with the locals. Meanwhile, discover the stories behind our main dishes: the legend of the "tripeiros", name given to the Porto inhabitants; you will learn how "francesinha" is made, that "caloric bomb" that you should not miss and the tasty codfish recipes, so important in our culture. We will harmonise it with our portuguese wines and explain the diverse grapes and wine regions. And what about our cakes, such as pastel de nata or Jesuita? Enjoy more! Experience more!

    A Delicious Taste of Porto

We had a wonderful afternoon exploring many delicious venues. A flavorful shredded pork sandwich- a favorite of the locals, was first on the list. This was followed by a stroll through an historic market sampling wines, sardines, fresh oysters and stuffed dates and figs. The next treat we enjoyed was a sample of Ginjinha, a delicious cherry liquor available at a family owned shop. After a short walk we attended a luscious olive oil tasting complete with Portuguese cheese and charcuterie. A stop at a unique shop featuring jams, honey and chocolate spreads flavored with fruit was amazing. The perfect finish was a visit to a pastry shop for an espresso and the quintessential Portuguese pastry, Pasteis de Nata. Highly recommend.

Response from the operator: Dear Nicholas and Therese, Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful review! We're delighted to know you enjoyed the full flavor of the experience. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again soon for more delicious discoveries! Warm regards, Sara, João and Rui

    Porto Grazing

Our guide, Sara, was delightful...taking us to a variety of places/venues to sample the flavors of Porto. Her knowledge of the local culture and customs made our visit even more enjoyable. We have taken food tours in many European cities, and this was among the best!

Response from the operator: Dear Peter, Thank you for the wonderful review! We're thrilled to know you enjoyed your tour with Sara and found it to be one of the best. We hope to hear from you again! Best Wishes, Sara, Rui and João

Porto Private Food & Wine Walking Tour with Market & Tastings: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.

How much does Porto Private Food & Wine Walking Tour with Market & Tastings cost?

    +

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Porto Private Food & Wine Walking Tour with Market & Tastings take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.

Is Porto Private Food & Wine Walking Tour with Market & Tastings worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Porto Private Food & Wine Walking Tour with Market & Tastings?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Porto Private Food & Wine Walking Tour with Market & Tastings suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Porto Private Food & Wine Walking Tour with Market & Tastings?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Porto Private Food & Wine Walking Tour with Market & Tastings start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Porto?

    +

On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Porto?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Porto?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
