Must Do Trip!
This was the best tour of the trip. Catarina has excellent taste and her choices of wine and matching food were outstanding. She was very accommodating to us and altered the trip based on our interests (we spent more time in the market trying different things than what was strictly on the tour and bought other items than what we had tried but she had wonderful recommendations for us). She had tables reserved ahead of time and was pleasant to speak with. Every extra step she could take, she did. If I can recommend doing anything in Portugal, I recommend this tour. It was by far the highlight, the best wine and the best food on the trip. The only regret we have is that we didn’t do it earlier!
Response from the operator: Hello, hello! Thank you so much for such a wonderful and generous review. It truly means a lot to me. It was an absolute pleasure spending the day with you and sharing some of my favourite flavours, wines and places in Porto. I always want each tour to feel personal rather than simply following a fixed itinerary, so I am especially happy that you enjoyed exploring the market a little more and discovering a few extra things along the way. Knowing that the tour became one of the highlights of your trip is the greatest compliment I could receive. Thank you for your trust, your curiosity and for making the experience so enjoyable for me as well. And next time, we will simply have to make sure you book me at the beginning of the trip. A big hug, Catarina

Wonder eats and drink.
Catarina is an excellent host. Guided me to outstanding eats and drinks even tho our day was somewhat disrupted by Porto’s winning soccer parade! She adjusted the tour on the spot. Highly recommend.
Response from the operator: Hello, Sandi! Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was such a pleasure spending the day with you. Porto certainly gave us an unexpected extra experience, allowing us to celebrate the victory of our football team together, such a special moment for the city. I am so glad we were able to adapt the tour and still enjoy some wonderful food, drinks and memorable moments along the way. Thank you again for your kindness and recommendation. A big hug, Catarina

Our tour guide, Catarina,...
Our tour guide, Catarina, was informative, kind and an expert in the wine and food experience. We enjoyed her engaging, positive, personality and by the end of our time together, we felt that we made a new friend. She brought us to several quaint restaurants, where she clearly knew the owners and staff well. She even shared some family recipes with us. What a wonderful experience. I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful tour!! Catarina, if you read this, thank you again for making our day so special. I will send you some photos soon.
Response from the operator: Hello Kari and Laura! Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. It was such a pleasure spending the day with you and sharing some of Porto’s food, wine, stories and traditions. I am truly touched that you felt we had made a new friend, because I felt exactly the same. Moments like these are what make my work so special and meaningful. I sincerely hope our paths cross again one day. You will always have a friend waiting for you in Porto.

Best Food & Wine Tour We've Ever Had!
This was the best food and wine tour we've ever done, and that says A LOT! We travel all over the world and do food tours everywhere we go and Catarina tops them all. Within 10 minutes of meeting Catarina, we felt like we had met an old friend and she just has the best vibe about her. She's clearly very passionate about food, wine and all things Portugal! And she knows her stuff. Being a wine professional myself, I'm quite critical on these sorts of tours, but Catarina didn't disappoint us once. Her pairings were clearly well thought out, carefully curated and were absolutely spot on. She took us to some great places that I think most tourists would just walk past and not give a second glance. Catarina has put so much time and effort into her tour, and it shows. She has thought of all the details. Absolutely book this tour you won't regret it. Under no circumstances should you eat ANYTHING before this tour, because you will be stuffed to the brim by the end!!!
Response from the operator: Dear Lucy and Aaron, Thank you for a generous and thoughtful review. It truly means a lot, especially coming from someone who also works with wine and has experienced food tours all over the world. I am so happy that the experience felt personal, welcoming, and carefully curated. That is exactly what I hope to create: not just a food and wine tour, but a genuine moment of connection with Porto, Portuguese flavours, local stories, and the people behind them. It was such a pleasure spending the day with you. I must say that I felt the same way: I was spending the afternoon with old friends. I would be delighted to welcome you back anytime. Warmly, Catarina

Excellent tour for Foodies!
What a fun and memorable experience with Catarina. Her knowledge of the wine and pairing with all the local delicacies was superb. The tour was paced well and we never felt rushed but instead felt special and catered to. This is a great tour!
Response from the operator: Karesa and Aaron, thank you so much for your lovely words. It was a pleasure to spend this time with you and to share Porto through its food, wines, special moments and stories. I am delighted to know that you felt well cared for and enjoyed the experience so much. I hope to welcome you back again one day. Warm regards, Catarina

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Porto Private Gourmet Food & Wine Historic Tour with a Sommelière: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Porto Private Gourmet Food & Wine Historic Tour with a Sommelière cost?
+
Prices start at $125 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Porto Private Gourmet Food & Wine Historic Tour with a Sommelière take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Porto Private Gourmet Food & Wine Historic Tour with a Sommelière worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 52 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Porto Private Gourmet Food & Wine Historic Tour with a Sommelière?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Porto Private Gourmet Food & Wine Historic Tour with a Sommelière suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Porto Private Gourmet Food & Wine Historic Tour with a Sommelière?
+
Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Porto Private Gourmet Food & Wine Historic Tour with a Sommelière start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
