    Excellent tour with knowledgeable guide

Excellent tour the scenery is fantastic and the geology is incredible to see - Sandro's knowledge of the geology is extensive and he really made it easy to understand. It brings another level to this unique landscape to be able to look at its features and know how they formed. I booked via email which was very easy. Tour includes trail pass, and there are toilets at the cafe for only €1 charge, and they take card payment.

    Great experience!

Great experience at Ponta São Lorenço trail with a geologist. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough! It was really interesting. Sandro explained and pointed out evidence of rock composition, fault lines, erosion, volcanic vent systems and taught me how to identify rock formed from pyroclastic flow. He has excellent English so he could answer all my questions. There was so much I wouldn't have noticed if I was just walking it alone and the fact that he does pick ups outside of Funchal was ideal for me. 10 out of 10 experience in a beautiful place.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much Marcia for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience! It's always rewarding to explore Madeira's volcanic history with someone genuinely interested in understanding the landscape beyond its beauty. I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed the geological insights and that the transfer made everything more convenient for you. Thank you again for choosing Madeira Geo Tours, and I hope to welcome you back to Madeira for another geological adventure in the future!

    A different perspective

What an incredible experience! The geotour in Madeira exceeded all expectations. Sandro, our geoscience expert was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The hike was a true dive into the fascinating world of volcanism. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and unique geological formations, every moment was an opportunity to learn something new about the origin and evolution of this very special island. Beyond its natural beauty, I left with a much deeper understanding of the volcanic processes that shaped everything we saw. Without a doubt, an enriching and inspiring experience that I highly recommend to all nature enthusiasts!

    +
