What you get

    About this experience

The Bosco de' Medici Caveau is not a tasting room — it is a private world unto itself. Unlike standard winery visits, this experience takes place in an exclusive underground sanctuary that is never open to the public. Access is by private reservation only, meaning your group will have the entire space — and a dedicated sommelier — entirely to yourselves. The wines you will taste are grown in one of the most extraordinary terroirs on earth: volcanic soil at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, where centuries of eruptions have created a mineral richness that cannot be replicated anywhere else. With a maximum of 8 guests per session, intimacy is guaranteed. This is not a group tour — it is a personal, unhurried journey through volcanic wine culture, led by an expert who is there for you alone.

    A must in Pompeii

My wife and I wanted to visit a vineyard and experience a wine tour after experiencing Pompeii. Up steps Bosco De’Medici, a gorgeous new vineyard just outside of Pompeii. Language expert Roberta took us on our golf buggy tour of the vineyards and answered any questions. Then Roberta handed us to Ciro who took us on a tour of wine and food pairings. Three courses complimented with three wines was absolute heaven. Thank you Roberta and Ciro and the Bosco Vineyard, a great experience to a wonderful trip.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that you loved your experience. I’m so glad you like Ciro and Roberta’s work! We’ll pass along the kind words and they will definitely be happy to read what you wrote. We put customer experience and satisfaction as our priority, and your review reaffirms the hard work we put in every day. We are grateful to you for choosing to spend your recent visit in Pompeii at our Winery, Bosco de' Medici and for the time spent in sharing your feelings about. The best winery!

Today was one of the most rewarding experiences in all my years of Italian travels today we started the day out with arrival before our parents and we’re ssrvef complimentary espresso. Next, once we were joined my our parents, toured the vineyard and cultivating fields of beauty. Also able to see Pompeiian ruins without the wait of touring the archeological site of Pompeii. We were then walked through the wine-making process and taste a fresh rosè and sparkling white that was out of this world. The following experience was astounding. Our Sommelier Antonio was superb. Our waitstaff Raffaella and Ciro were amazing.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that you loved your experience; our staff will definitely be happy to read what you wrote. We put customer experience and satisfaction as our priority, and your review reaffirms the hard work we put in every day. So thanks for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again. Lovely find on drive between Rome and Positano

Hidden in the back of Pompei town (literally hidden) is a gem. Super friendly team, great taster menus and wines presented by well informed staff. We kept it simple as we have 2 small (ish) boys and they were happy exploring the garden, but tours are also on offer. Defiantly worth a stop on a tour or if you are on the road. 2 x menus were just fine for us all with some kids pasta.

Response from the operator: Dear Mike, We appreciate your comments regarding your recent visit at Bosco de' Medici Winery, located in the heart of Pompeii, few steps away from the Archeological Site, completely surrounded by our vineyards. It is a pleasure to receive positive feedback and read about our valued guests' satisfaction. I will share your comments with our team, who I am certain will be encouraged by your remarks. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we look forward to serving you in the future. Sincerely, Margherita

Pompeii: Private VIP Wine Tasting in an Underground Caveau: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.

How much does Pompeii: Private VIP Wine Tasting in an Underground Caveau cost?

    +

Prices start at $142 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pompeii: Private VIP Wine Tasting in an Underground Caveau take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.

Is Pompeii: Private VIP Wine Tasting in an Underground Caveau worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii: Private VIP Wine Tasting in an Underground Caveau?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pompeii: Private VIP Wine Tasting in an Underground Caveau suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Pompeii: Private VIP Wine Tasting in an Underground Caveau?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Pompeii: Private VIP Wine Tasting in an Underground Caveau start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Pompeii?

    +

On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Pompeii?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Pompeii?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
