Magic private visit of Pompei
Excellent tour of Pompei. Over three hours with Ida who was a fantastic and well prepared guide. We loved seeing Pompei and would recommend Askos and Ida for best experience!

Incredible Tour with Ciro at Pompeii
We were advised by friends that we absolutely MUST have a guide to maximize our limited time in Pompeii, so we booked a tour with Askos. The communication was GREAT. Initially, because we were coming from a cruise and had to get to Pompeii to meet our guide, I got nervous and asked if we could push back the start time of our tour by a half hour. They responded quickly and accommodated us (easier I think because we were a private group of two). We received tickets and detailed information on where to meet our guide. When I realized we would actually arrive EARLIER than expected, I reached out and they told me our guide could be there 20 minutes earlier. A+ for communication AND Flexibility. Some people may think this tour is very expensive and, for sure, it is not INexpensive, but the value we got for our money was incredible. Our tour guide was Ciro, a lifelong resident of Pompeii. He was truly a treasure trove of information. He kept calling us by name throughout the tour, making it feel personal and not the least bit generic. He shared so much information about the history of Pompeii, the eruption, the culture at the time of the eruption, as well as how the site came to be in the state it is in currently. His answers to our questions were insightful and thorough. He even shed some light on how the current residents in the surrounding area feel toward Mount Vesuvius and the potential for a future eruption. I am certain that if we had tried to do this on our own, or even in a larger group, a great deal of the magic of this experience would have been lost. We visited some sites on our own in Rome on this same trip and pretty much wandered aimlessly, ending up with a “just okay” impression of some really cool places. If you are visiting Pompeii, budget to allot for this tour and request Ciro. It will be the best investment you make on tour trip!

Fabulous tour of Pompei by Giulia
Family of three- we went on a three hour tour of Pompei with our archaeologist tour guide Giulia Musella. What a fantastic day! I am an archaeologist myself (not of the Roman Age) but I can vouch for Giulia’s archaeological expertise.. more importantly, she was a great speaker with an appropriate amount of humour and receptive to the group needs ( water breaks and shade in almost unbearable heat) so that our experience was really very enjoyable. I’m so glad we booked a tour and feel lucky that we had Giulia show us around and teach us so much.

Excellent 3-hour tour of Pompeii
We took a 3-hour tour of Pompeii last week with Alessandra, and it was outstanding. She was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also had a remarkable ability to explain the archaeology and bring to life the story of how the city was buried and preserved. Her engaging storytelling made the history fascinating and easy to follow. Although the tour lasted three hours, it felt like it was over in minutes. An excellent all-round experience that we would highly recommend.

Take a tour guide every time!
Our guide, Nicoletta, conducted a very interesting and fun tour. Pompeii is an amazing place and she helped us understand the way it operated in much more detail. Thank you Nicoletta for a great experience.

Why this scores 76
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Pompeii 3 Hours Walking Tour Led by an Archaeologist: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does Pompeii 3 Hours Walking Tour Led by an Archaeologist cost?
+
Prices start at $252 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Pompeii 3 Hours Walking Tour Led by an Archaeologist take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is Pompeii 3 Hours Walking Tour Led by an Archaeologist worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 135 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii 3 Hours Walking Tour Led by an Archaeologist?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Pompeii 3 Hours Walking Tour Led by an Archaeologist suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Pompeii 3 Hours Walking Tour Led by an Archaeologist?
+
Around 47 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Pompeii 3 Hours Walking Tour Led by an Archaeologist start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
