First time diving experience
Paulina was a fantastic guide. This was our first dive she was very patient and happy to give clear instructions. The pool was very useful to learn basics. Once we went out in the sea she took me around the reef that was fantastic she was brilliant at spotting the fish I had shown interest in seeing. I would highly recommend her as an instructor and guide. The facilities are great. Me and my wife (she only came to snorkel) felt very welcome. In my opinion this experience has made the holiday for me.

A Brilliant, fun dive shop, that was flexible and allowed us to enjoy our Mexican Diving Experience to it's potential!
The Dive Machine were brilliant to me and my girlfriend during our stay in Mexico, and they allowed us to fulfil our dreams of diving in the beautiful seas (and Cenotes!) of Mexico. Being an experienced, qualified diver, I booked a Cenote dive (something I've wanted to do since I started years ago!), and they were brilliant when it came to accommodating my needs, any concerns I had, and most importantly allowing me to have fun and enjoy the magical experience. We also booked 2 reef dives for me and my girlfriend during our stay, who she had never dived in her life. The package we booked allowed her to do some pool training prior to the dive, and also to learn the basics of diving. Despite the sea not being great, we still managed to get out to the reef’s and we both got to dive off the amazing reef’s off Playa Del Carmen. We felt safe throughout the dive, and the planned dive’s we did were great fun, and plus we only dived in a group of 5 (guide included), which made the experience much better. Credit to The Dive Machine as we had some complications with our pick up due to the hotel security, however they were calm throughout and we eventually got picked up safely! Plus, due to the high wind gusts, we had multiple other excursions rescheduled and it meant we had to rearrange our booked dives. But they were great and flexible when rearranging our booked dives, and it was stress-free to get that sorted! Special thanks to Freya and Pancho for allowing us to experience the amazing diving that Mexico has to offer! Highly recommend this Dive shop and when we eventually get back to Mexico, we will be booking again with them!
Response from the operator: Dear Diver, Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled you both enjoyed diving with us—whether in the cenotes or reefs of Playa del Carmen. It was a pleasure to guide an experienced diver like you and to help your girlfriend with her first dive. We appreciate your patience with the weather and hotel pick-up challenges—thanks for your flexibility! Special thanks from Freya and Pancho too! We hope to see you again soon for more underwater adventures! 🌊🤿 The Dive Machine Team!!!!

Fantastic communications, guides and service
First time diving in the cenotes and it was an incredible experience. Alberto was a brilliant guide for us, and he was well equipped for any situation a cave diver would face - including knowing a great taco stop to feast on after our dives. Alberto had a great way of explaining what it was like to descend into the halocline ‘you’ll think there’s a problem with your mask, there isn’t, just slowly go a little deeper’. Dive Machine were really helpful while arranging this booking in advance; contactable via WhatsApp and WhatsApp audio while I booked from Cairo. We are making this an annual trip to the cenotes and I look forward to next time I come with Dive Machine.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We’re thrilled that your first cenote dive was such a memorable experience and that Alberto made it even more special with his guidance and expertise. We love sharing the beauty of the cenotes, and we’re happy to know that everything, from the booking process to the post-dive tacos, was seamless for you. We can’t wait to welcome you back for your annual trips to the cenotes! See you next time for more incredible adventures! 🤿🌊🌮

How far in advance should I book Playa del Carmen First Time Scuba Diving Experience?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
