The Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak are two of the most famous attractions in Colorado, and we’ve packed them into a single tour. You get to explore the giant red rock formations in this National Natural Landmark during your picnic lunch before you ride the Cog Railway to the highest summit in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains at 14,115 feet. Be prepared for communal, conversational seating (meaning opposing rows face each other, typical of train travel). For taller guests, that means you may be knocking knees a bit. To ride comfortably, we recommend that you strategically sit across from a short person. You're certainly not required to chat with the people across from you, even if you came together. But who knows! You might make a friend and have some laughs or a fun "small world" moment. We love those!

    Excellent experience!

We went in October 2026 and the weather was great! although unusual for this time of year. Adam was an excellent guide and knew all the cool spots for pictures without a lot of other tourists. We saw Garden of the Gods; ate a nice lunch; went to the top of Pike's Peak on the Cog Railway; and still had time left over to walk around Manitou Springs. I would definitely recommend this tour since it is all planned for you.

    This is one of my...

This is one of my favourite tours I've ever done! The guide (Adam) was awesome - he got everyone talking and was funny and engaging. The drive out passed by in no time with his commentary and humour. The stops were well-planned and I feel I saw the best of Colorado. I took the trip primarily to find a way from Denver to the Cog Railway at Pikes Peak, so the added stops were a huge bonus. The final stop rounded out the day perfectly, and the tunes on the way back were perfectly curated. I'd highly recommend this trip.

A must if you are in the Denver area

This tour was the highlight of my trip to Denver. We enjoyed a short hike through Garden of the God's, followed by a tasty picnic lunch in a beautiful spot, then up the mountain on the cog railway to Pikes Peak and finally capped off with a trip to Manitou Springs where we were able to either shop or as we did, enjoy a quick snack and a beer.

    Beautiful day

We loved Garden of the Gods and could have easily been happy ending our trip there. Train ride to the top was, to me, not worth the expense. The loading of the COG train was less than organized. Pikes Peak is more beautiful looking up at it than down from it.

Pikes Peak COG Railway & Garden of Gods Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Denver.

How much does Pikes Peak COG Railway & Garden of Gods Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $239 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Denver usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pikes Peak COG Railway & Garden of Gods Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Denver is not rushed.

Is Pikes Peak COG Railway & Garden of Gods Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 496 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Denver, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pikes Peak COG Railway & Garden of Gods Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pikes Peak COG Railway & Garden of Gods Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Pikes Peak COG Railway & Garden of Gods Tour?

    +

Around 174 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Denver can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Denver and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Pikes Peak COG Railway & Garden of Gods Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Denver within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Denver?

    +

Denver is a launch pad. Rocky Mountain National Park, Pikes Peak, Red Rocks and the Georgetown rail loop all run as day trips, and altitude makes the timing of your first hike matter. In town: brewery crawls, Union Station food walks and Red Rocks show nights. We rank mountain operators on van size, pace and whether they build in altitude acclimatisation. On Outty we rank every Denver experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Twilight Ghost Tour, 2 Hour LoDo Historic Walking Tour in Denver, Downtown Denver Food Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Denver?

    +

June to September for open mountain passes, or December to March for ski shuttles. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Denver?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
